Welcome to our Connecticut Home. We are from Utah and love the fact that we can call it a beach house.
We painted our front door in Hale Navy from Benjamin Moore. We have pops of navy through out our entire home, I like the front door to set the tone for what to expect in the rest of the home. A little touch of nautical.

This is the house BEOFRE we bought it.

This is AFTER. We painted the blue paneled walls right when we moved in. We went with Cloud Cover from Benjamin Moore, I loved how it turned out. I just wanted something very neutral, not gray or yellow.

We ordered new furniture for this new home, my sectionals from our Utah house were not going to work in any way! The sofa is one of my favorite styles, I have always wanted a shelter sofa, this actual one is discontinued. But you can find something similar HERE. The woven wood roman shades were already on the windows. I added the blue and white stripe panels that I found at Home Goods to frame the view. My husband didn’t want to block the windows, and resisted but after showing him how they add so much rather than take away he was for it.

Rugs are the best place to start when pulling a room together. You can always find fabrics, but rugs can be harder to find. Rugs are one of the most expensive pieces in a room, so they should be the first thing you look for. You can find this rug HERE

We are less than a mile to the beach. Every time we go my girls collect shells. These two are some of my favorites they collected the past weeks.

I fell in love with these built in bookcases when we were looking for homes, they won me over.
They could look pretty cluttered with how many shelves there are. The trick to making it not look too busy is to use a lot of the same colors and tones. White accessories work well since the bookcases are painted white. Also breaking up all the little things with larger pieces, like I did with the baskets and art. I also used command strips to hang things on the front of the bookcase

I just started piano lessons again, I took them as a child and need a refresher. I painted it in chalk paint from Annie Sloan in Paris Gray you can read more about that HERE

I fell in love with this religious art work after reading THIS talk. The art is titled “Encircled about by his love” and the artist is Frans Schwartz. I ordered just the canvas and found the gold frame at Good Will for $5, great way to showcase nice art for a fraction of the price.

This painting is another one of my favorites, you can read more about it HERE. It was a picture I took at the Zoo and commissioned an artist to paint it as a gift to my husband.
Sugarboo is one of my favorite art lines. You can buy them from Layla Grace HERE or look for a local store near you to purchase it.

The previous home owners left us this gift, beautiful peonies.
I love to bring inside to enjoy.

I am so glad I came across your blog. You have a wonderful sense of design. I live in Trumbull in a cape so you are giving me lots of creative ideas.
I followed the link for the Surya rug that was used in the Connecticut Home front room and your Utah home it it says the link is no longer available. Do you have the link the link to the rug on their website? It’s gorgeous! Thank you
So sorry- I have a new blog and everything didn’t transfer over correctly. I update the link!
