It doesn’t matter the size of the space, even in a tiny house everyone can have an area that inspires them to create and play. And honestly with an organized clean play area it creates play more often and encourages them to keep it nice and clean up when they are done. We are thrilled to be welcoming our baby boy soon into this world. We had been trying to have another baby for close to two years and I found out the most unexpected way we were finally pregnant. I have been stressed about getting this done in time for our baby boy who is due May 1st, I know babies don’t need much but I didn’t want to be working on a big project right after he was born. Mollie from Design Detail daughters bedroom caught my eye when I saw her statement painted floral walls. I shared the photo on my Instagram and it got so many compliments. We had these Ikea white cabinets with the plastic bins in the girls playroom in our old house. I know you have all seen them if you don’t own one yourself. The plastic always kind of bothered me, but I thought “relax Brooke, it’s a play room.” Now that we are in a smaller house we use the bins in the girls bedroom. They have a good size bedroom and there was plenty of room for toys. But now that it is all open the plastic bothered me even more. So I came up with a Ikea hack to create something more pleasing to the eye.

My sister and I were born in the same year, can you believe my poor Mom?! For about three weeks we are the same age, Irish Twins we are. We didn’t always get a long growing up, now we are best friends, I am pretty blessed by her. When I was in Utah in December she wanted to work on her son’s bedroom and move him to his own bedroom. He is a little stud who is 11 years old. He needed his own space where he didn’t have his little brothers going through his things. So before his Birthday we got to work, my sister actually did the manual labor and I went shopping and put it all together to make his bedroom his own.
I did a Birthday party at our home for our 8 year old Ella. I had looked into going somewhere, because 10 little girls in a 1200 square foot house seemed a bit tight. Then I thought I should not let the size of our home hold us back from enjoying it and doing what she wanted to do. Ella wanted to have a “late night”. So we invited some friends over and made dream catchers, I fed them french toast for dinner with fruit and sausage, we watched the movie Pan (which is similar to Peter Pan, we all loved it) then played our favorite birthday game “who knows Ella best” you can find it HERE and did a little dancing. We topped the night off with brownies and mint ice-cream as per the birthday girls request. The dream catchers were the highlight of the night, a big hit. This is how we made them-

I knew that all of you would love the uniqueness of it too, so I asked her if I could feature it on my blog. Trust me, you will love every detail of this room and her entire home.

Our oldest daughter just turned 8! The day before her birthday she kept asking “what time is it?” I would ask why are you so worried about the time? She said “because I want it to be time for bed so I can wake up and be 8!” She hardly said two words about what gift she wanted, she just wanted to be 8. It was so cute. I wanted to make the day extra special since she was so excited. My husband was out of town for work, and we had already went to her school and took her lunch, read a couple of books to her class and they also did an extra recess instead of allowing treats, I LOVE this idea. So for her birthday she requested crepes for breakfast and brownies and ice-cream instead of cake. I always ask them what they want for their meals and dessert.
