I have to tell you. I think this is finally my favorite way I have my girls bedroom. I do change out their bedding often and move pillows around. I even had different wallpaper on this accent wall. It was temporary, peel and stick. So if you get an itch for a change (like someone I know) you can rip it off the wall in under 5 minutes without any casualties or damage to your precious walls. Since I am a designer and blogger I like to experiment and try new things, it makes me a better designer. The wallpaper I had on this wall before was a promotional paper that I collaborated with Chasing Paper Co. on to try it out and add something new to the girls shared bedroom for summer. This new paper I just put up is also from Chasing Paper Co. I shared it over on my Instagram with 4 other options of wallpaper to help me decide on for the wall behind my piano. This was the top paper everyone liked so I thought why not put it in a bigger spot and I actually like it for their bedroom even more!
The exact same day I was installing this wallpaper an article popped up from Domino Magazine on my Facebook talking about how wallpaper behind your bed is one of the best places for a wallpaper accent wall! I was like YES! I must be doing something right! Domino Magazine said that not only does it create a great focal point it is also the best way to get the biggest bang for your buck. Wallpaper can get pricey- so just picking one focal point is a good move.
This wall took about 9 sheets of wallpaper to complete, each sheet is $40. For one large accent wall like we have it would cost about $350. (I will link the exact paper at the end of the post). Really not too bad of a price for such a statement. The wall doesn’t need any art with the wallpaper either- so that saves money too (unless you are like me who thinks more is more!).
Key Take-Aways for Hanging a Wallpaper Accent Wall
- Temporary Wallpaper can be taken down anytime without any damage to your walls (make sure to check with the manufacturer).
- I was asked if Temporary Wallpaper could be applied if your walls are textured. Chasing Paper Co. said no, because it will not adhere to the wall. But when I posted to my Instagram Stories I had a lot of people say that they used wallpaper and temporary wallpaper on textured walls and it worked great. I recommend ordering a sample and trying it on your wall to see for yourself.

I changed up the girls bedding, using only what I had. I love the look of the creams and whites against the busy wallpaper. Just shows how good cream, white and neutral pillows and bedding are. Timeless really. And it will allow you to change up other things rather then expensive pillows and bedding.
These girls really love this room. I don’t know if I have talked about how much I love their shared bedroom. When we moved in 3 years ago I wasn’t sure if I was going to give them separate bedrooms or have them share. At the time we did have a room that could have been one of their bedrooms (it is Finn’s nursery now). But honestly having them share a bedroom was the best thing we did. It gave them comfort in a new/old house with new sounds, smells and sights. They had each other. I was worried they wouldn’t sleep as well, but they sleep better. They aren’t ever afraid or nervous to go to bed. They have a best friend sleeping by them every night.
Not to mention the bedtime routine is one step less- we just have to read one book before bed and say one prayer (mom hack).
I painted this little desk in a blush pink (same color as our painted piano) it was the same color as the blue bookcase and it used to be their nightstand. Love giving an old piece of furniture new life and purpose.
This is the other side of the room- you can see I do have wallpaper in this space as well. I really like how the two wallpapers work together.
This shot you can see both wallpaper accent walls at the same time. I like mixing patterns (if you can’t tell). This works really well because they are different scales- one is a large pattern and one is smaller.

Oh gosh! It’s as beautiful as can be!!! This is my favorite room, even being a woman in my 30’s, I just want to live in this room. Haha! This is such a magical room. I bet it’s just filled with love and imagination. What a great job you did!!! Do you mind me asking where the little yellow and white striped fabric covered “x” sided ottoman is from(did I explain that right??). Thank you in advance!
hey girl- Love the room! So cool!
What a fun room! The wallpaper looks great and like the idea of it being temporary. Wallpaper can be such a commitment. One of the things that caught my eye was the way you used a wooden chair as a night stand between the two beds. Very cute and clever and practical. Thanks for sharing.
Love your dress in the last photo! Mind sharing source?
Beautiful room!!
It’s amazing how the beds now pop in the room, love the entire space!
