I love decorating for Christmas in the kitchen. When the overhead lights are off at night and all the little glowing details come to life. It feels so cozy and inviting, like the whole space is giving off its own warm holiday glow. Sharing all the details of what we’ve done this year, plus a few of my favorite open-shelf styling tips that I always come back to.

Open Shelf Styling Tips

*Stick to similar colors and textures. It keeps everything feeling cohesive instead of chaotic.
*Swap out the little things. I added new shades to my book shelf lamps this year and it brought the perfect pop of color.
*Choose fewer, larger pieces. I don’t use a lot of tiny items—bigger pieces feel less cluttered and make the shelves look styled instead of busy.
*Let practical things also be pretty. I keep plates, cups, bowls, and recipe books on my shelves.. But I buy the cutest versions so they double as decor.
*Add small festive touches. Embroidered bear art (matches my seat cushions!), Santa mugs, pops of red from recipe books… just enough to feel Christmasy without overcrowding.
