I’m going for it.
Yes.
Sharing some Fall Decor in our Kitchen today. Except it really isn’t decor that would be classified under the typical “fall category”. This got me thinking about why do I personally change my decor a little for Fall or with each season? What is the draw for me? Because it isn’t for everyone. And many pride themselves on doing nothing for each season change.
For me fall decor is about a change. With each new season we have a change in routines. A change in temperature. A change in how the interior of our home looks from the light that comes in.
Sometimes those changes are hard because we hate to see something great leave.
Why not change up the energy in your home for a little excitement about what is to come?
And if you have young kids the things you change in your home mean more to THEM than you know. It means something exciting is coming. Yes. It. Is.
Fall!
I have had people say to me “Fall isn’t until September 22nd” or “It is too hot to decorate for Fall” or “Why rush summer?”
First of all I think it is most important to keep in mind the WHY. Why is that person decorating for Fall? The WHY is because it isn’t about you, don’t take it personal. It is about what makes them happy.
Kevin and I were talking at dinner one night about how we define a successful child. Both of us agreed that it is if they are happy. End of story.
Light your pumpkin candle in June if you love the smell. Doesn’t bother me. Because it is for YOU!
Today I am joining a group of bloggers to share our Fall Kitchen Decor, hosted by Ella Claire Inspired. I almost didn’t join this tour. Because as I said I really don’t put out “fall decor”. I took it as a design challenge to share some ideas on what to do in your home if you don’t want to buy or have the space for extra fall decor. But do want a fresh look.
Fall Decor Ideas-
-
Change up the colors. It could be just putting different colors in a different room.
-
Move things around you already have, try a new arrangement.
-
Maybe pick-up a new plant, dish, bowl or something to define the new feel of the space.

I also decide on the mood I want. For me I love a moody home especially in the evening. This is when we are eating dinner, doing homework, Scripture study together. Accent lights is key for me and calming my children after a long day at school and activities. THIS star candle holder was exactly the piece I needed to define my “fall look”. Reminds me of my why.
I almost spray painted my chairs black. I took them outside and everything. I just was feeling the black. But then I thought come Spring my mood will change and I will want them white! So I opted to try THESE bistro chairs. They are coming soon, I will have to share the change!
THESE mini bowls were a big inspiration for me- something so small got me excited for the season change. Also adding a little bit of green to the shelves with THIS plates pulls in the green plants and the green pillows on the banquette.
I brought in my blush rug pillow for the texture and a little pop of color. Also I had bought THESE green velvet pillows and really love the green in this space. Two surprisingly great colors for fall.
Could. Not. Walk. Away. From that citrus plant. Isn’t it gorgeous? I added some twinkle lights to the top for a fun moody glow. And my under cabinet lights (THESE Lights are my favorite) even though you can see them under the cabinets it doesn’t bother me because I get that much needed warm glow for a cozy kitchen.
Snapped the below picture after dinner last night. It felt cozy and exactly where I wanted to be. A refuge from another busy day. A fall busy day. Because fall to me is school starting- a chance for starting fresh and intentional.
Here is to making intentional choices in our homes for fall. Choices that make us happy.

I feel the exact same way about fall-it feels like it starts when the kids go back to school. All the routines come back and a cozy, comfortable home to talk about the day and do homework, etc are key. Do you mind me asking where the black plates are from? And the soap pump at your sink? Thank you.
Thanks Clarissa! The plates are target here- https://rstyle.me/n/c8tfd8b5qwf
discontinued, but still stock available
And the little spritzer I got here- https://rstyle.me/~aDeXv target too!
I’ve been eyeing the striped pillows on your banquette for so long… noticed you included them in today’s post but when I clicked on it, I went into Domino oblivion. Could you share a more direct link or where they came from? Thanks!
Oh yes! I found these that are similar – https://rstyle.me/n/c8tpccb5qwf good size! I can’t find mine anymore đ
Your home always inspires me – I love your simple and livable approach to everything you do!!
Iâm obsessed! You are so inspiring, thank you for sharing your loveliness with us all!
Where did you get that kumquat plant…?? At a nursery..? Home Depot..?
I got it at Shop Terrain!
I love the new bistro chairs and canât wait to see them in your space đ
I love to add a few natural Fall elements myself to our home as we efinally get the cooler weather. It will be a while until we really cool down here in AZ but……we want Fall to happen too!!
What will you do with the white chairs? Do you have a spot to use them and then switch back with Spring?
Love to read your blogđ
ok I have the most random question – I have been following you for quite some time and have purchased a bunch of items based on your recommendations. I know that you use the little brush by your sink for vegetables but what do you use for your other dishes/pots and pans and where do you keep it?
Thank you! So I use one of those long plastic cheap looking scrubbers and I keep it in the dishwasher! I don’t like to look at it! ha!
It looks stunning! I always feel like I need to move to the northern hemisphere just to have fall when you guys do! The blossoms are out and the days start to get longer here in New Zealand. Spring is in the air and I am sooo looking forward to summer, but then I see the fall dĂ©cor and I’m like… I want to decorate with pumpkins. Will it look weird if I have pink and blue painted pumpkins at my front door?? LOL
That would be so WILD to be on the other side watching Fall when you are in summer!!! I totally support pumpkin painting!
I think your kitchen is the most beautiful cozy spot I have seen in a while!! Love everything about it! Our Fall here is hot and not typical for me at all and each year I am craving the northern Fall more and more, but it is so much fun to change things up and using not so typical Fall decor
oh thank you so much!!!
Hi Brooke! You provide oodles of inspiration for me in my new little house. I’m struggling to find counter stool/chairs I like and I’m smitten with Finn’s. Can you please share your source with me? I’ve looked through your posts about your kitchen to no avail (unless I missed it). Many thanks!!!
Thank you! Sorry! That is Ikea!! I shared it here- http://nestingwithgrace.com/ikea-finds-bought-love/
