We have two guest rooms, we could have used one space for a storage room, but we have storage space in a couple smaller areas in our home that works for us! Our thought was that one day Finn might want to have his bedroom down in one of the bedrooms, rather than right next to mom and dads room. So, for now, we have two guest rooms. We do have guests often and we have plans to do some fun things that we will need the two guest rooms for! We have actually already used both the guests room and loved having them!
Guest Room Before-

This was what the bedroom looked like when we bought this 1970’s home! While I can appreciate the fun carpet and color on the walls, it needed to be updated. And actually the previous home owner used this bedroom to take photos of his antiques that he sold! Perfect carpet for that. You can see how dark the room felt too, even this it was in the basement I knew we could make the windows bigger and let in more light!
Guest Bedroom After-

I kept the room a floral theme just went from a floral pattern on the floor to the walls!!! What a change making the windows larger did for the room and getting new windows. We added beadboard to the walls and painted them in Kendall Charcoal then wallpapered the top part in the Peonies Wallpaper. Really made the room feel cozy!!

This is what the guest room looked like right when we moved in, before I had a plan! Just shows what paint and wallpaper can do!!!!

We used the bed from our primary bedroom in Connecticut, a nice leather strap bed that really looks good in any bedroom. I did get a new Gingham Rug that is so soft, I love the fringe detail on it. I actually love it so much I was thinking of getting it in another color for our family room.

Most of the bedding I already had, but I did add this new duvet with that tiny tassel detail! The quilt on the bed I love because it is really oversized, often when you spend a little more on a quilt they are oversized. That is a full/queen on this queen bed!!!

We did these roman shades (in Belgian linen) on all our basement windows, they are cordless and light filtering.

I wanted another spot for guests to get ready. This vanity was a great size, style and color for our guest room. It would also make a really cute desk, you just would need a piece of glass on the top. I found that oval mirror when we were second hand shopping, it was exactly what I was looking for. The metal chair we had extra from our outside table, I put a fur throw on the seat to make it cozy! (Fur throw is from IKEA).

Kind-of obsessed with these lamps, I have the same one in our entry. And I put the dessert mist diffuser in that lantern (similar here) and oils in that little stripe bowl (I found local).

I put this luggage rack in the room for bags. And a plant is a must! Thankful we have good lighting in the basement for plants. Snake plant in this plant stand made it the perfect height.

Lots of mirrors are a must in a guest room! I still want to add a floor mirror (maybe this gold one) or maybe I will hang one on the back of the door. I found these smaller mirrors and hung them with that fun hand clip we found when we were second-hand shopping!

And we snuck in an extra bed on this side of the room! I bought that daybed awhile ago, it includes the mattress, but it went up in price from when I bought it! I shared daybed options on this post. The large buffalo plaid pillow is older, find the + pillow here, and the round pillow here.

The collection of art over the daybed I have had for awhile. I was thrilled I could hammer in a skinny nail right into the brick! That brick used to be red, we painted it when we remodeling the house. And the sconces (find less-expensive options here) we did the magic light trick in! We drilled the sconces in the brick by using a masonry screw and drill bit.

Right outside the room is our Wet Bar, a place for guests to grab a drink and snack!

I used the same nightstand we have in Finn’s room on this side of bed. It is just a great size and wood finish! I found that print at our local plant shop!

And lastly a spot for guests to hang bags and coats! I used these hooks that I really like!
It turned out beautifully, Brooke!
Everything in that room is stunning but that rug, so good!! Love the way you make beds, just so cozy and thanks for sharing!
Beautiful! Thank you for always putting in so much effort sourcing everything!
