I shared that we went to Florida last Friday. Well on our last day, I got a little time to shop and fill my CUP and believe me, it doesn’t take much. Just a couple small things-trinkets get me!
We went and looked at the directory to see the shops I wanted to pop into while we were at Disney Springs. We already knew the girls wanted to go to the Lego Shop. I needed to hit a MAC makeup store. Then I saw that Sugarboo was in there. I have many Sugarboo pieces in our home. So it was a must stop. I tell you what just entering that shop filled my creative soul. I posted on Instagram Stories when I was in there and someone commented “that place is too expensive”. Well, I can see where was coming from- her limits. BUT that is not why we always go into stores. Do you look thru a magazine because you are going to purchase everything?NO. We look for inspiration.
Same idea applies to my blog. We are all here to do small and simple things that lead to great things. This is what makes a house a home. And one way we can do that is by collecting all those small ideas. Do you want see the small things I got?!
HEART MARBLE PLATTER/CUTTING BOARD– As soon as I saw this I had to get it home with us! You can find it HERE. It really makes me so happy and lovey dovey about our kitchen.
BTW- someone asked if I keep all our silverware in this jar, no just THIS gold handled set. BUT if you don’t have a lot of space and need a drawer this idea would work! And when my mom recently visited we stopped into another favorite shop and pick up THIS candle that she was obsessed with “it fills the entire house” she said.
NOTEBOOK- I can’t find the notebook with the perfect quote below but I found an even better option that you can customize your own notebook for even less HERE
ZINK HEART– HERE Just love little pieces like this. Finn can’t break them either, bonus! Finn did dump out this plant on the floor. But I do think this is a family friendly coffee table idea (minus the candle). We are going to work on not dumping out the dirt, he learned with the Christmas tree to just look at the ornaments and not touch, just through encouraging (every time he walked in the room for a couple days:)). So I think we can work on this plant too.
GOLD GLASS– I actually found the little gold cups that I put votives in at Goodwill for$1 and funny thing when I got home I found them HERE in green (no surprise that is where they came from). They remind me of our green cups (that I get asked about all the time).
GEODE- Lola is the one who found this small Geode, she has been studying rocks and minerals and wanted it. I told her I would get it and we would share it. I found THESE mini Geode’s that you can break yourself, I had to order her one! She will LOVE it. Cute Valentine gift if you ask me! (You can find bigger Geodes HERE)
KNOBS– A small simple change that goes along way is new hardware! I found the little gold bunnies on sale HERE I don’t see them anymore but there are a lot of great options! I moved the knobs that were on the piano to the girls dresser. I love just changing out the top two knobs.
CLOTHES– I saw that Free People was at Disney Springs too, so had to pop in. I had some birthday cash waiting to be spent! This is what I picked up…
- That top below HERE (comes in 4 colors) I love that it is really loose and yet also flattering, for sure a favorite!
- I also wore THIS shirt the other day and had so many messages asking where it was from! I have it in cream and a reader actually found it for half off HERE (It fits true to size).
- THIS one too is loose but flattering! I love the sleeves!
After my shopping spree I went though my clothes and donated an equal amount of clothes that I bought. I always do this. One thing in one thing out.
I have a challenge for you on this Friday/weekend. Buy something SMALL this weekend, it can be $1! Pop into a second hand shop, Target, a favorite local shop or order online. Clean up a space and move things around for your small little treasure. See what it does for your mood!
I am going to be back tomorrow to share that fireplace mantle I recently helped a good friend with. I hope you have a wonderful Friday.
PS- If you make my mom’s Artisan Bread Recipe I added the video from my Instagram Stories HERE
All of the things you bought are so cute and really add to the charm of your home. I love all the hearts-so cute and fun. I totally agree with you on how we go into stores or, for me, read you blog, as ways of getting inspiration. I don’t feel like I need to go buy anything new, necessarily, but just move around what I already have and fall in love with it all over again. BUT, that being said, I may just take your challenge and go find something little this weekend. Ha! Thanks for always sharing. Your posts make me so happy. 🙂
Thanks Clarissa! I agree-moving things around goes a long way!
Absolutely love that we learn something from you every. single. time.! Your point about choosing a focal point and focusing everything else in the room around that is such a goodie. Also love the challenge for us! (Not that we don’t already go home and try or at least daydream about trying everything you do.. 🙂 )
ahhhh I am so glad. You said EXACTLY what my goal is- to leave you with something that helps you and maybe you learn something. Thanks Kristen!
I love your suggestion of buying something little. This time of the year is so dreary in most of the country, and we have had a hard winter throughout a good deal of the country, that I think we all need a little pick me up! Even, just a small bouquet of flowers from Target or Walmart will do the trick. We all need a bit of Spring to remind us nicer days will soon be with us. Cannot wait. And again, I love your blog and truly enjoyed your Facebook Live decorating hints, last evening! Keep up the great work!!
Thanks Sue! I am so glad you enjoyed our FB live! It was so much fun! And I agree with everything you said!
Thank you for such an inspirational post! What a sweet little shop Sugarboo is…I had never heard of it til now:) I truly love your blog and look so forward to checking my emails and seeing a new “Nesting with Grace” post. You brighten my day with your ideas and just how “real” you are.
Oh thank you Heather! I really love to hear that- I don’t ever want to bother people by showing up in their emails all the time.SoI appreciate your encouraging words!
My goodness yes !!! Love seeing the inspiration in cute little unique shops !! Like you said even if not to purchase but just an idea of what to do with similar items you already may have. Once again keep up the fabulous inspirational work .
Thank you Nakita!!
Oh, the angel picture on the pink dresser—where did it come from? I adore it! Your whole home is so sweet. Thanks for your inspiration!
Thank you Kathy! The art is from here- https://www.deanndesigns.com
I totally agree about going to stores for I aspiration. I used to go into model homes for that same reason.
I have a question about the focal point. My husband has a bad back so he needs to sit straight up on a chair/couch to watch TV. My fireplace is prominent in my Family Room and if I put the couch across from that the TV is to the right. We don’t want to put the TV above the fireplace due to all the components. Any suggestions?
I think that is totally fine. The focal point can still be the fireplace- just make the fireplace or the TV the space that has the most height or “drama” if that makes sense!
I love the zinc hearts! Will definitely be getting these…my husband and I have a stone heart we bought at World Market and take turns hiding it places for the other to find, just to know we are thinking about them…would love more to do for our kids! You are alway so fun and inspiring…love it!
That is such a cute idea!! Thank you!
