I am hit and miss with Halloween decorating. Some years I decorate and some years I do nothing. I actually just gave away almost all our Halloween decorations, thankfully I saved a few of my favorite things because my girls have been asking for it! Every year since we started having kids we have gone to my sisters for trick-or-treating and a Halloween party. I always love it. Since moving away from family we didn’t get to do that last year. I really missed it. My sister makes it so festive and fun. I thought I should put in a little extra effort this year. Perfect timing to join along with my friend from The White Buffalo Styling and 13 other bloggers to share our homes for Halloween!
I think my favorite thing about Halloween is walking around at night and seeing all the homes glowing with warm lighting and candles. It just makes me happy thinking about it. I really wanted to make our front porch feel that way.
I little black crow and some spider webs in my cotton wreath and on my gold door knocker were simple and put the biggest smile on my girls face when they got off the school bus. I love that they appreciate the halloween decorations, it makes it worth it.
I keep a bunch of these old candles in our basement for emergencies. They also double as Halloween decor, thankfully old and worn are totally acceptable for Halloween.
I have fond memories trick-or-treating as a kid. One was of our sweet neighbor who would always have hot chocolate and donuts for all the kids in the neighborhood. It was so much fun to stop at her house to get warm and have a treat. I remember she had spooky music on, fake spider webs covering her entry and the best glow of candles and lamps. It was magical.
I brought out my favorite gold tea cart and plan on setting it up with donuts and warm apple cider. Hopefully I can create those warm memories for someone.
I know it will for our little witch. She is actually going to be a Vet and Ella is going to be a “skeleton soccer player” (any chance to wear soccer clothes she will make it work) and Finn’s costume is undecided.
Our piano is right off of our entry. It needed a little Halloween Decor since you can see it from the front door.
I added a spider to the girl with the pearl earring and more spider webs. The little bulb lamp just happens to fit in under the “halloween decor” category. (similar lamp HERE)
I moved my chalkboard back, you can see where I had it HERE. I found the Halloween banner at Home Goods, my only new halloween purchase this year.
I added the gold wreath I have had for years (similar wreath HERE) and the black skeleton to our back door. (My door is Gray from Benjamin Moore, in a flat finish).
Every Halloween the food is centered around chili. Isn’t that what everyone eats?? I am on the Halloween party committee for our church this year and we are doing a chili cook-off! I found THIS skeleton trophy , it will be perfect for the chili winner. I had to practice the chili I am going to make for the Halloween Party. I went with White Bean Chicken Chili, I figure it will be different and it is a family favorite.
I found these Halloween ghost chips at Trader Joes. They are too cute! They would also make a great little hostess gift with a jar of salsa.
I have to make my favorite Paleo Pumpkin Bread– basically I make it about twice a week right now. You can find the recipe HERE and my favorite pumpkin pan HERE.
Thanks for stopping by our Halloween Tour! I hope that your Halloween is full of warm memories and some good chili! Make sure and stop by Simple Stylings next.
