Welcome to my Fall Home Tour- Take II! I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to join in the Blogger Stylin’ Home Tours, hosted by my friend Lindsay from White Buffalo Styling Co. and 30 other talented bloggers. If you are following on the tour and found me from The Nester, then let’s have a moment of silence for her amazing tour. She is one of my favorites. Thank you for joining me as I share the rest of our 1950’s Connecticut Cape with some easy fall decor updates.
I have really been trying to simplify and get rid of things that I don’t absolutely love or would not buy again today. In a 1200 square foot home there is not a lot of room for clutter. But that is easier said than done. One way I try to simplify is by not having a lot of fall decor that I hang onto all year. I have to fight the urge to go by new things for every season change and especially when I have a home tour to share. I do buy white pumpkins and find free fall foliage to decorate with.
I did add some copper lights above our sink that I found on clearance. I love the soft glow and they feel festive for the season with the nights getting darker earlier and earlier each day.
I have had the white plates with pumpkins and acorns for years, that is one thing that I have hung onto. I just added the new glass jars with the suction lids, you can find similar HERE. Although we don’t really need a lid when the jars are filled with Trader Joes pumpkin cookies, they go quick with little hands, the girls know that they are really rare to have in the house.
I bought new dish towels a month ago, you can find more about them HERE.
I made some fall stove top potpourri, it was so easy and smelled amazing. I make it whenever I have people coming over or when I know that we will be home all day. I used cut up lemons, two limes, an orange, an apple, two cinnamon sticks and several tablespoons of ground cinnamon all mixed in several cups of water.
My mom left us that message with on our fridge. It is so cute to see everyone get distracted, no matter the age with our alphabet magnets that I spray painted my favorite gold paint.
I like to move things around our home, giving pieces new life. I moved my chalkboard that used to be over our kitchen settee to our front room. I wanted to do something fresh in this space. I found this bull art from Minted, you can find it HERE. I like the change and how it really pops with all of the white in the art. You can see where I put my chalkboard HERE and read more about my kitchen HERE.
My hubby sent me these sunflowers for our anniversary. They showed up while I was in the middle of taking pics, perfect timing. It was the sweetest surprise. I just got THIS gold hammered flatware set. I love them so much I couldn’t put them away in a drawer and love them out in a jar.
I added some real pumpkins to our gold bookcase. They are not just any pumpkins, they have to have a long stem, that way I can spray paint the stems gold. Totally important.
Our bedroom just got a few updates with a new rug, bedding and ceiling. You can read more about it HERE. I love the rust throw for fall, one of the easiest ways to change your bedding with the seasons.
I decided to add a few simple changes to our family room that doubles as a guest room.
We spend a lot of time in this space playing games and toys with the kids. I put our vintage cutting board on our rug ottoman to use as a serving tray for our snacks.
I do box up seasonal books and pull them out a month before the Holiday. It is always a fun treat to get a big stack of books every couple of months. THIS is one of our favorite Halloween books.
I switched out our sofa pillows to my favorite faux white fur pillows. I put them away in the spring through the summer along with our faux fur throw. I really love THESE pillows for fall and winter too.
The little area behind our sofa got a new desk. My daughter has been thrilled about it. She loves to build legos, color and do home work, perfect for the start of the school year.
I framed a fall card that my friend brought me the other day. She found it at Trader Joes, they have the best cards. Such an easy and inexpensive way to create a piece of art for the fall.
I had my daughter paint a fall scene after we went apple picking. Is there any art better than a child’s painting? Seriously makes me so happy.
Make sure to check out my other Fall Home Tour HERE to see more of the front of our home, our front room and our daughters room.

Thank you Nicole! I appreciate that comment.
You do such a good job of designing without the look of clutter and being overdone. Many other blogs take my breath away and make me feel claustrophobic because they add so much stuff to their rooms.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate that. It can be hard to not keep adding. I want it to look like how we live in it everyday. Have a good weekend!
Brooke, I’ve said it once and I say it again – you inspire me friend! Gorgeous details as always, I love to see what seasonal touches you add to that beautiful home of yours! xo

Thanks Donna! Yes, they are so fun. I was bathing Finn in the sink last night loving the soft glow. Have a good weekend!
Love it all – especially the framed cards! Where ever did you find the frames with rounded corners? Love ~
(wonder if you could decoupage a card onto one of those plain white serving plates from Target, hmmm).
That is a fun idea! I found those rounded corner frames at Ikea a couple years back. Thanks for the comment!
Brooke, I LOVE your style!! I have two “where did you find those?” questions. Where did you find the copper lights (adorable) and your porch galvanized planter buckets. I live in the Pacific Northwest so fingers are crossed I can track them down… Your sweet family is even more adorable than your home.
Thank you so much Jane! The copper lights I found on clearance at Shop Terrain- I looked and they aren’t on their website 🙁 I did see some similar at target…try there.
And the planter buckets are from Old Farm Creek! Great price for the set.
Thanks again:)
I can’t. Your home is so so so cozy chic! I think I almost pinned all of your pictures. Sorry…not sorry! Haha= ) I wish it was cold enough in Cali but I could crank up the AC and pretend it was fall. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home!
THANK YOU!! I am so flattered! thanks for your sweet comment:)
Brooke,
I totally feel a little stalkery haha. But we bought a 87 year old farmhouse in Murray and your home is such a good source of inspiration for me. I just love your eye for detail.
