I have always been passionate about looking at labels and safeguarding my family from toxins. I used to clean my house with vinegar! I have also purchased other products that I thought were “clean” because of the way they were marketed. I have been using Thieves Concentrate to clean my entire house for almost a year and a half now! I cannot BELIEVE how simple and affordable it has been to clean every surface of my home with ONE bottle of Thieves. It is infused with essential oils and all plant based. Over 5,000 of my blog readers have joined me in loving Thieves!!!
Why make the switch?
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health studied 2,983 ingredients in our products at home and found 884 toxic ingredients. 314 caused biological mutations, 218 caused reproductive problems, 146 (they knew) caused cancerous tumors, but were allowed in the United States, even though they were banned in other countries around the world. Twenty-six seconds after exposure, chemicals are found in measurable amounts in the human body. The average woman applies 300 chemicals a day to her body (80 before breakfast!
The top 10 most dangerous chemicals in your home are: air fresheners (like plug ins or candles), chemical cleaning supplies for your counters, floors, toilets, drain and oven cleaners, furniture polish, dishwasher soap, and dish soap are also culprits.
What happens to your body when it is chemically overloaded?
Most of us feel it as lethargy, inability to focus, sleep trouble, chronic inflammation, unexplained pain, fibromyalgia, skin issues, adult acne, hormone inbalance, hot flashes, stress, anxiety, and fear. If you face any of these issues, it’s time to kick chemicals to the curb. For me, I saw my skin completely clear up! No more hormonal breakouts!
Looking to ditching the toxic chemicals in your home? One of the EASIEST switches you can make in your home is your cleaning products!
What is Thieves?
Thieves essential oil is a blend of 5 powerful Young Living oils. It’s uplifting, and energizing. And it is one of the most famous oils in all of Young Living. The Thieves blend contains Clove, Eucalyptus, Rosemary, Lemon, and Cinnamon. It’s based on the legend of the four thieves in Marseilles (mar-say) France, dating from the time of the outbreak of the Bubonic Plague. Century after century, from the 1300’s to the 1700’s, outbreaks claimed up to half of the population of Europe. As history has it, the group allegedly confessed they used it with protection against the plague while they robbed the bodies of the dead.
Where to get Thieves?
You can buy Thieves at retail from Young Living. But the better value is to grab a thieves starter kit so you get wholesale! Easy as that! And just by getting your starter kit I will send you monthly Newsletters with ways to use Thieves and oils to make your house smell good without using candles, for wellness, cleaning, beauty, and so much more! All Purpose Cleaner-
Use this recipe for countertops, appliances, walls, etc.
- 1 capful Thieves Cleaner
- 16 oz Water
I also just use one cap of Thieves in my spot cleaner to clean my upholstery too!
You can make all the everyday household cleaning items from your Thieves Concentrate! Below are some of my Toxic-Free Cleaning Hacks!
Laundry Soap-
**Diluting is NOT required! We have found that diluting the Laundry Soap helps us use the right amount of product. This is a super concentrated cleaner and a little goes a long way! Diluting is NOT required!
Pour half of the bottle of detergent in a large jar or container. Save for later. Add 3 capfuls of Thieves cleaner concentrate and 10 drops oil of your choice. Top jar with water and shake.
Boost the laundry soap with essential oils-
- Lemon is a fabric brightener
- Lavender for Scent
- Eucalyptus for Stains
TIP: Add Molly’s suds directly to wash for whitening. Add Arm and Hammer washing soda to Fight Odor or tough stains.
Stain Spray-
Fill a 16 oz spray bottle with the following:
- 1/3 Thieves Dish Soap
- 1/3 Thieves Laundry Detergent
- 1/3 Distilled Water
- 2 drops of lemon or eucalyptus oil per ounce
Apply to any stains and then wash as regular
Soft Scrub-
I love using this in my sink, to clean my stove, and really anything that you might have used soft scrub or a magic eraser on!
- Combine equal parts Bon Ami and Thieves Cleaner Concentrate *you might need a little more Bon Ami if it is too running
- Add tea tree oil for mold issues, citrus oils for a fresh smell, or oregano for extra cleaning power
- Mix well and store in an airtight container
Dish Soap Hack-
It might surprise you that dish soap has toxins! I was shocked to find that out. Sodium Laureth Sulfate is what makes a lot of dish soap foam up, it can also be a skin irritant and cause other issues. I highly recommend looking into what you are using to “clean” your dishes!
Thieves Dish Soap- Pour half the bottle of the dish soap in a jar or container and save for later. Add 2 tsp baking soda and 5 drops lemon oil. Top with water and shake. **Diluting Thieves dish soap is not required, but stretches the super concentrated product.
Dishwasher Pods-
You can DIY your own dishwasher pods! Or just buy the Thieves Dishwasher Powder (that is what I use).

Is Thieves what you put into your can of paint to take the bad smell out? We are getting ready to do some painting and I would love to get rid of that toxic smell.
Peppermint is a strong one for that!! But you have to do like a 5 ml bottle in a gallon to make it smell and it doesn’t effect the paint
Hi! What are you recommendations for granite and marble cleaning?
I clean it with Thieves too- no issues
Thanks for your response! How long do you let the Thieves cleaner sit on the counter tops before wiping them? Do you wipe with a dry or wet microfiber cloth? Are you doing anything different with your cleaning during this time of COVID 19?
How much of the diluted laundry soap would you use then? Like 1/4 of cap still or another suggestion?
yes! 1/4 the cap or I dilute the jug with half water and half in another container
