Our home is 1100 square feet and we just added on about 200 square feet. It is still small. Some said they were worried it wasn’t going to be cozy anymore. Not the case. It is still very much considered a small home. We wanted to keep that older home feel and have separate spaces rather than a large open concept. But we do like to entertain so one way we created a larger room for entertaining was to make a cozy spot to eat, with a banquette and also make it a place that you could hang out and chat longer or watch something on TV together. So we added a Frame TV to our new brick wall. I would often find myself turning on a show on my phone for Finn to watch while eating breakfast (if he woke up early). Or I would get my laptop to play something off Amazon Prime and the girls and I stayed up late to do a craft together.
This past Sunday we got to watch church from home in our kitchen while the kids colored at the island and I was preparing dinner. It was so nice to have! And no, we don’t have the TV on 24/7, it is actually rarely on. And a Frame TV looks like a piece of art, it sits flush to the wall!
PS- just to note- we are in the process of remodeling- the wood floor still needs to be finished and painting needs to be done!
We were able to upload a family photo to our Frame TV and it looks like it is custom framed. The frame we used is the Bezel Beige Frame, it just clips right onto the TV. There are a variety of different frame options, you purchase separately from the Frame TV.
After researching we found that you can do a picture or a piece of art without the mat. The mat on the Frame TV looks really cheap (in my opinion). Kevin found the solution on Lauren McBrides Blog HERE.
How to add art or a photo to the Frame TV-
- First you need to edit your art or photo to 3840 x 2160 (I adjusted mine in PicMonkey)
- Download the SmartThing App and connect your TV to the app (free app)
- Select “art mode”
- Add your photos
- Select “no mat”
- Then hit “set”
- Watch it appear on your TV!
My talented friend, Lindsay Letters offered this FREE winter art for the Holidays!!! Download it HERE (find my garland HERE and shop our home HERE).
And I had my friend Ashlyn create a custom piece of art for our Frame TV and yours!!! Since we are all Nestled In, I thought it was perfect! She also made one that says- “What CAN I do!” Reminds us to focus on what we CAN do not what we CAN’T do! Just download the images by saving them to your phone then upload to the app! They are already sized to 3840 x 2160! (see the options below….)
Don’t you just love the art? You can get the FREE digital download for your Frame TV HERE!! Or want an 8×10 of it?? Grab the 8×10 version for $5 HERE.
Some of you asked where we hid the cables to the TV. The Frame TV comes with a separate box that contains all the TV components. It also has a really long skinny cord, so you can hide the box in a closet. We ended up drilling through the wall to the bathroom and we will hide the skinny box in the new vanity, it worked out since we are in the process of remodeling the bathroom! I know someone said that they strung the long cord down to the basement! So many options. The remote doesn’t need to be pointed at the box- just at the tv. And no, the box doesn’t get hot.
We also added a frame tv in our master bedroom a 49″ we did the same frame too- Bezel Beige Frame. And I sized down THIS Rose Digital Download to fit (tips above).Places to check the price for the frame tv- Amazon // Ebay // Walmart (you can see more of our bedroom HERE)
I hear that Ssmsung forces ads on the art at regular intervals. Is this true?
no- I haven’t seen one ad….
It looks beautiful!! On my wish list!! 🙂
Just loving it I was wondering how high is the ceiling in your kitchen
It is just under 8 feet!
This is beautiful! I seriously can’t wait for my tv to need to be replaced so I can get this!
