January was our two year anniversary of living in our little cape in Connecticut. We were quick to make a lot of changes to the home right when we moved in. I couldn't wait to paint the entire house, rip out the carpet in our upstairs, update both bathrooms and tackle the outdated kitchen. We did all of it within the first few months. I really wanted to add some sort of banquette style seating in our little eat-in kitchen. But I was tired of spending our savings on this house and just wanted to be done with the projects. So I made our settee work and created a little banquette with what we ... Read More

Friday Favorites- Starts with Making your Bed
You know when you come across something great you want to tell your sister, friends and anyone who will listen? Well these are mine. All my favorites this past week that inspire or things I love wrapped up in a quick blog post! I read THIS article this past week "10 things to make you happier at home." And of course it starts with making your bed. Gretchen Rubin, author of The Happiness Project, explains that this three minute task is one of the simplest habits you can adopt to positively impact your happiness. I shared the above photo of my bed on my Instagram last night and ... Read More
Dining Room Updates- Custom Table- Blue Ceiling and What Dining Chairs?
Sooooo we got a new oval dining table. I shared in January we had replaced our round dining table with an oval table to get more seating. Fast forward to about a month after getting this oval table it started to show signs of warping, the veneer was peeling off (I updated that blog post too). I called and asked to send it back. Then I randomly met on of your husbands at a high school event for my niece, and he told me he makes custom furniture and cabinets! So I asked if I could have him make a table for us... Luckily I was able to return this table without any issues (I am linking it, ... Read More
Places we added Shiplap and Why
We have shiplap in 9 places in our current home. It can add something interesting to a quirky area, pull a room together, or even hide a damaged wall. We love to do DIY projects, but we actually hired someone to install all of the shiplap. The way a professional installs woodwork, and trim it out, can't be beat. I pulled together all the places we added shiplap to hopefully give you ideas! Not sure where to start? Pick one of the most noticeable areas in your home that you want to add some charm. Or a spot the ceiling is low or quirky and want to add some charm. Kitchens, dining room, or entry ... Read More
Back Door Entry with Green Painted Shiplap
Why am I still surprised what paint can do to a space?? Our back door entry from our garage just didn't feel finished. One side has our green lockers and the opposite side looked like I forgot about it. I wanted to give the feeling of a mudroom, key word being "room". I had been wanting to add shiplap and paint for a while now and we finally did it! Back Door Sources- ... Read More

Girls Room Window Seat and Roman Shades
Hopefully you saw the girls bedroom reveals, today I am sharing how we added a seat cushion to their built-in window seat and roman shades to the windows. The window treatments were kind-of a necessity! And now the window seat is an extra cozy spot to sit and hang out. I decided to go with a white linen on both. Having a custom cushion can be pricey, but I felt it was worth the money for the girls to be able to comfortably sit and read. You can find ready-made cushions and have your built-in's sized to fit, we did that in our Connecticut banquette. The girls custom cushions cost about ... Read More

I ordered a few things from Walmart ,before it all goes out of stock! Thought I would show the decor I picked out and then show you her kitchen next week! Thank you Walmart for sponsoring this post Brushed Brass Chandelier- gorgeous light fixture and under $100! Mid ... Read More
