When we were remodeling this 1970's home I told our electricians that I wanted every switch to be on a dimmer. They looked like, are you sure? Yes, worth it!!! There were a few lights they missed that we just recently switched to a dimmer ourselves, easy to do! Obviously a bedroom on a dimmer makes sense, you want restful lighting, but I love having our kitchen lights dimmed at night when we aren't cooking, but grabbing a snack or drink. I will share how to install a dimmer switch on your own and my favorite dimmer switch! JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. Reactivate it ... Read More
Favorite Things- Lamp Love
I read a quote a long time ago, and at this point I have taken it on as my own, I say it enough, "An overhead light should only be turned on when you are searching for a lost earring." Overhead lights can sometimes feel too harsh, a big reason we have a dimmer switch on all our overhead lights! Lamps are one of my favorite pieces of decor. If I had to choose only one item to go on a side table, console, entry table, piano, nightstand, I will always pick a statement lamp! They not only look great, but add such a cozy feeling that can't be created any other way. I rounded up some of my personal ... Read More

I hung a propagation wall 6 months ago in our basement. I thought it deserved a blog post, all about the results and what I learned about propagation! Here is a clue, it is EASY!!!! What does it mean to propagate plants? Basically propagating a plant means your plants can have plant babies. To propagate, simply cut a piece of a plant or take a broken stem of a plant, put it in water, and let it grow roots. After your plant takes root, you can plant that rooted plant into dirt. Basically propagating takes one plant and gives you another!!! Boom! Start now and you will have plants to give as ... Read More

Favorite Soup Our Kids LOVE- White Bean Chicken Chili in Slow Cooker
Ella asks for the same meal every week, white bean chicken chili. She LOVES it. All our kids do! I have seen lots of variations of this classic white bean chicken chili recipe. You could add more broth to make it more like a soup, but we like a chili consistency to dip a chip in. We also add carrots to our version. We make most our soups and chilis in a slow cooker, for a quick easy dinner. I actually prefer to only make meals that require one pan or one pot, does that mean I am lazy or efficient?? Maybe don't answer that. ha! I am sharing that white bean chicken chili recipe and some of our ... Read More
