*I partnered with my friends at Trove Editions on this post- all opinions are my own. I am back to discuss ways you *could* be making your home look cheap! I don't think that any of us are trying to achieve that look. But if you have something in your home that could fall under todays post. That is OK! I am here to help and offer some EASY fixes. If you are happy with what you have, even better! I am also dying to show you a change I made to my front room, might seem like a small change but it is BIG to us. Basically Swivel Chairs are magical! Remember I had that big white sideboard in ... Read More

Ask a Designer Series- Mistakes made to TV Walls
What do I do with my TV wall is a question I hear a lot! We all wish that we didn't have want to have the TV in our family room, but we do. What can we say, most Americans love their TV and why not make it look good? I received two questions for my "Ask a Designer Series" from my subscribers in regards to their TV wall. After looking at their pictures I thought, first I should talk about what NOT to do, mistakes that are often made on TV walls. Now I am not just pointing out the mistakes from the questions I was sent. We see these same "mistakes" over and over. But do not worry, they can ... Read More
Friday Favorites starts with ways to Make the Most of Everything
On my Instagram the other day. I talked about how my really good friend lived in a small house in Downtown Salt Lake City. Most homes in that area are older, just like mine and smaller scale. I have to say I LOVED driving up to her home and passing the small quant restaurants all glowing at night. She lived on the most charming street, one of those streets you want to get out and walk so you can peep in the windows. Well one of downsides to this charming area and home is lack of storage. Back then we lived in 3,000 square feet in a new residential area. I have to admit I was a little horrified ... Read More
Ask A Designer Series- Rugs and More
I am back answering with another edition of Ask A Designer Series! I loved the response about this new series. There are a lot of design questions sitting in my in-box waiting to be answered and I promise I will work through them! When I share the "Design Question" I trim down the actual email. But I have to say you all are SO kind. It can be weird running a blog. I am my own boss. Unless I am working on a sponsored post I don't have deadlines or timeframes. There is also no one patting me on the back. I relish your kind words. For example this one from Holly has to be shared because she said ... Read More
Maximize A Small Space with a Secretary Desk
Living in a small space has been a learning curve. I can move something an inch and be like...YES! why didn't I do that before? Seriously. Small homes or small rooms for that matter have to be maximized, everything has to serve a purpose or it is out. I talked about this new Secretary Desk I found a couple weeks ago. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it in our small house. I had a small dresser by our front door before, I did like the dresser for storage but it was old and the drawers didn't open too well- it was frustrating. So it got cut. I am not sure if this Secretary Desk will stay ... Read More
Ask A Designer Series- What Do I Do With My Walls
I started offering a chance to ask me one FREE design question for anyone who subscribes to my bog. I have loved getting to know my readers more personally and understanding what you need design help with. I appreciate my loyal readers so much and wanted to offer this personal service. I am accepting simple design questions like "what color should I paint in here?" or "what rug would you suggest?" One question I keep getting is "what should I do on my walls?" I know friends and clients who have not hung one single thing on their wall and lived in their homes for years. They are afraid of doing ... Read More
Come see inside this New England Charming Guest House
I think one of the first homes I took a picture of in our new neighborhood was this charming white tiny little house. I imagined it to be a guest house (maybe because that would be MY dream). I drive by this tiny white "guest house" everyday. And every single time I turn and look at it. Imaging what is inside. Well one day I decided I was going to do it. I was going to ask to see inside. Last week my kids and I didn't have much going on and the weather was really cool for July. We jumped on our bikes to go on a long bike ride. I told my girls that while we were out we would pass this ... Read More
Friday Starts with My Favorite Place To Go For Inspiration
Do you have that place you go for inspiration? I was talking to my old boss- she owns an entire village of little shops, called Gardner Village in Utah. She was saying that hopefully the world doesn't all go to exclusively online shopping and no need for brick and mortar shops. I told her no way! I am a big online shopper. But there are a handful of shops I love to pop into for inspiration. And typically if a salesperson engages with me and points out her favorite things in their shop, guarantee I will buy it. It is all about connecting and giving ideas! So one of my favorite places to go ... Read More
Coffee table ideas- because baby is walking….almost
Finn is walking almost walking....if that is a thing. I guess I could say he has been "almost" walking for 4 months now. But he will now take steps all on his own and without encouragement or bribes. No matter how many kids you have watching a baby take his or her first steps is probably one of the most wonderful things ever. Seriously. When big milestones happen it is a good reason to change something in your home, just because. So that "just because" is a new cocktail table or as West Elm calls them "coffee tables". I prefer the name cocktail table, I don't know why....it is like a "sofa" to ... Read More
Friday Favorites starts with Entry Ideas
Hello! I missed doing Friday Favorites the last two weeks because we were on vacation in Utah then in California for the last week. I actually get the most feedback that you all like these posts...so I want to keep them going! I did have some ideas scheduled but the wi-fi was touch and go where we were staying so I just had to learn to let-it-go. Believe me it was frustrating at first to not check Instagram for a week, but it was actually really nice to be forced to not work and not be on my cell phone. We swam a lot, played hard and had just the best time. I know that I won't regret that time ... Read More
