This is our guest room with three twin beds, our "bunk room"! We love having space for guests. My dream is to own rental properties, so I am getting in my practice in our own guest rooms. Our kids have loved this bedroom too. A couple months ago when we moved in, Finn asked me everyday to "please set up the twin beds"! He really wanted to have a sleepover with his sisters. When we bought this 1970's home the basement was partially finished and the space we wanted to make into a bedroom was not finished. We were able to make the windows larger, really transforming this basement guest ... Read More
Girls Room Window Seat and Roman Shades
Hopefully you saw the girls bedroom reveals, today I am sharing how we added a seat cushion to their built-in window seat and roman shades to the windows. The window treatments were kind-of a necessity! And now the window seat is an extra cozy spot to sit and hang out. I decided to go with a white linen on both. Having a custom cushion can be pricey, but I felt it was worth the money for the girls to be able to comfortably sit and read. You can find ready-made cushions and have your built-in's sized to fit, we did that in our Connecticut banquette. The girls custom cushions cost about ... Read More
Why we Picked our Toxic-Free Mattress
I shared all of our bedding the other day and how we make the bed, and today I am talking about the mattress. I have shared our mattress before, but never pictures and thoughts on each style. Plus they are all on sale! About a year and a half ago, I was on a mission to find a toxic-free mattress, we spend a lot of time sleeping! I try to do better with each new purchase and find the best option that has the lowest amount of toxins. I did share the non-toxic mattresses we bought, I almost sent them back, they were on the firmer side, but after about a week I adjusted to it. So when we ... Read More
Favorite Stools and Corners in our Home
Looking around I noticed I have a slight obsession with stools! Thought they deserved a blog post! Some of the rooms I haven't finished decorating yet in our home, like our dining room and primary bathroom. But wanted to share these happy corners, that are finished! A stool is a great way to complete a space, while also being functional. This is a spot in our dining room, which I haven't finished decorating. But we needed something to fill in this empty wall, and this console (I bought that color on clearance) is the perfect thing, plus another place to serve food! But, it did feel empty ... Read More
Home Office- Utah Ranch Home
When we bought this 1970's Ranch home there was one large room when you walked in the front door. Part of it was an entry that stepped down to large room that was used for a formal living room and a dining room. I did like how open it was, but we really didn't need a formal living room. What we did need was a home office. So we decided to build a wall to separate the large open room and create a dining room and an office. We have been using this home office for 3 months now and it is the MOST used room in our home!!!!! We use it as mine and Kevin's office, along with my sister and mom who ... Read More
Valentine Charcuterie Board, Serving Favorites and Gift Idea
Treat yourself and those you love with a Valentine's board! This snack board was kept super simple with just sweets, crackers, cheese and fruit. No cutting needed! I linked this board and some of my favorite serving favorites below, along with a sweet Valentine's gift idea! My tips for a charcuterie board is just like my design tip for open shelf styling- Repeat similar colors! I put out any bowls first, then add my cheese's, cracker's and then start filling in colors trying to not have similar colors next to each other often. I think that Trader Joe's is the easiest and cheapest ... Read More
Bedding Round-Up and My Favorite Bedding Pieces- King, Queen, and Full
I often get questions on how I get our bedding to look so fluffy and cozy! Today I am sharing how I make all our beds. Honestly a good quality insert is the key to making your bed look really good. Also, the right size of bedding pieces can make or break your bed. For instance I use an oversized knitted blanket at the end of the beds, if they were a smaller throw blanket it wouldn't look the same. Keep reading for all my bedding tips and favorites... Linen Quilt (warm brown)- I have used this quilt in at least 5 makeovers! I love it. Soft and kind of silk-like texture one one side, with ... Read More
Guest Room Now, Plans and Daybed Options
I pulled together our guest room in time for Kevin's dad, step mom and younger brother (who is Lola's age) to come and stay a couple weekends ago. They came again this past weekend, they live about 4 hours away and we love having them. We know we will have lots of guests in the future! I put together a design plan for this room and I am very excited to get it started! I used what I had to make their guest room cozy and welcoming for now. While I had essentials for them and a good base, it needed to be pulled together. I had ordered this rug awhile ago, because I liked it. But I broke my ... Read More

Our Primary Bedroom- Utah Ranch Home
Our bedroom was the last bedroom we finished decorating, I am excited to finally share it with you! When we bought this 1970's home this bedroom was covered in a floral wallpaper, with matching curtains and coordinating orange carpet. While I LOVE and appreciate the effort put into the original bedroom, it was time for an update! We had the wallpaper removed and changed up the footprint of the en-suite bathroom. I will share the bathroom soon, but today I am sharing the bedroom! Bedroom Before- Bedroom After- Here it is! We love it so much. After removing all the wallpaper from ... Read More
