I am so excited to share more of Melinda from Hawkes Landing home today. Melinda is going to be a monthly contributor to my blog- we are in for a treat! She will share more of her gorgeous home with us. If you remember I shared her home tour HERE. Today she is sharing her Master Bedroom and Master Bathroom. I love how Melinda mixes old vintage pieces with new modern pieces. Melinda said that she is not sure how she would describe the style, but she lean's toward traditional and also likes clean contemporary lines. See what she has to say about the rest of her bedroom and bathroom and how she ... Read More
Quick Healthy Green Smoothie Recipe
I shared on my Friday post that I got a Vitamix for Mothers Day and that I would share my favorite smoothie recipe. Smoothies are my quick-go to meal replacement. Sometimes I don't have time to sit and eat breakfast or lunch so making a quick healthy smoothie is a life saver, especially when trying to eat my best and healthiest. I asked my hubby if he knew I wanted a Vitamix from THIS post where I talked about making my favorite Paleo Non-Dairy Ice-Cream. A reader asked what type of blender I had and I told her I really wanted a Vitamix. Kevin said he saw that comment after he ... Read More
Friday Favorites starts with my favorite place to sit and read
I should be honest, that title of my blog post is misleading. I haven't sat down and read a book in a long time. But I do listen to a lot! I use Audible. I shared two books I listened to this week and loved and other favorite finds from the week, things that stopped me in my tracks or gave me the wants. Below is my favorite spot to sit and search the internet for clients or write blog posts, while listening to books or podcasts. I think this spot is my favorite right now because it is the coolest in the house and it has been hot here in CT! I just read listened to The Magnolia ... Read More
The Target Mirror that looks good everywhere
The closest Target is 20 minutes away (by freeway)! Now I know that sounds close to some of you, but not for me. I really don't like driving too far, I buy everything online. Where we used to live the closest Target was 4 minutes away. So obviously I am saving $1000 a month now:) I actually do make it about twice a month. We went last week because we bribed our 6 year old who just had her tonsils out that if she took her medicine (at 2 in the morning) we would buy her a doll. So we went for a doll and walked away with a throw, bananas, whatever else my kids threw in the cart when I wasn't ... Read More
Take Home Designer Series- New England Kitchen Tour of a Dietitian and her Paleo Granola
Do you remember the show "Take Home Chef"? It was on TLC. The cutie pie Curtis Stone would approach people in the grocery store and offer to go to their home and cook them a meal. I LOVED that show. My favorite part, besides watching Curtis Stone :) was seeing inside everyones kitchen. I thought it was fascinating to see the space that people spend so much of their time in. That is what got me to go to the grocery store after I had my first baby, hoping to run into Curtis Stone. So this is my version, where I go into charming New England Homes and share pictures of their kitchens. And only ... Read More
Kitchen Art- 10 Ideas for Art in the Kitchen
It's that time of the month. That time I want to change something. Oh did you think I was talking about something else?:) Nope not that kind of blog. I am pretty sure you have all seen what I have above our kitchen banquette. The chalkboard. When I first started sharing my home over on Instagram I was asked several times a day where someone could find my chalkboard. My fingers started to automatically type "it was a broken mirror that I painted with chalkboard paint" like a broken record. While I do still love that chalkboard and plan on keeping it. I am itching for a change in that ... Read More
Friday Favorites starts with Bathrooms and more about us
I am a little late sharing my Friday Favorites today. We have had a rough week with Lola getting her tonsils and adenoids removed. Just as everyone said (I hoped would skip Lola) day 7 and 8 were the worst and nights are the hardest. But we are on the up swing and this morning she ate a pumpkin pancake and drank a lot and I started to tear up! Such a blessing to have healthy kids. I cant even imagine a terminally ill child, my heart breaks for those going through such experiences. I did want to share some of favorite things from the past week. Including a little more about us at the end of ... Read More
Whole 30 and Paleo- How I Survive Part II
I shared Part I of "How I survive Paleo and Whole 30" HERE. It has been one of my most popular blog posts. I thought I would do a follow up post and share more of my favorite Paleo recipes and a couple are even Whole30 approved. I go on and off from eating a strict Paleo diet to eating about 90% Paleo. I recently started it up again and this is how I see the quickest changes and results in my body. From how my stomach feels, my self perception, to how I look on the outside. These are some of my tried and true Paleo recipes...the recipes I share with all of my friends! I ... Read More
Small Bathroom Ideas and Solutions in our Tiny Cape
If you are a reader here you know that our house is 1100 square feet. We consider ourselves lucky to have two bathrooms, a lot of the capes in our area and the ones we looked at before buying our home only had one bathroom. Funny how you can change your perspective from not feeling like you have enough room to gratitude when you look at the positive. Although our bathrooms are small I have grown to appreciate them and learned how to make the most of all of our small spaces. We used to have three bathrooms in our Utah home and they were all pretty big. So we have had to learn to find clever ... Read More
Friday Favorites starts with Design Tips
I have five quick design tips for you today! These are design tips that I live by. Also some very casual pics from the week and some of my favorite things. I talked about this over on my Instagram the other day, I had someone say on FB a comment about my family room. Now I don't share this to have you say "poor Brooke". It really wasn't like that. Another blogger had shared my family room over on her FB page (thank you!) and the comment was... "That room would look so much better with a bigger cocktail table." (You can shop my entire front room HERE) I agree with the design tip- ... Read More
