This post is sponsored by James Hardie. When we moved into our home 3 years ago, it was lacking curb appeal. Our home was built in the 1950's and not much was done to update the exterior and the interior for that matter. We quickly learned how a few simple changes can give some life and major curb appeal to the front of your home, which is probably what the majority of people in your community will ever see. I love the look of James Hardie Shingle Siding. I compiled 5 different ways to "Get the Look" of actual homes that used James Hardie. Tell me what look is your ... Read More
Small Space Living Series- 800 Square Foot- A-Frame Home
I think that this little A-Fram from Insieme House was one of the first "Small Spaces" I found on Instagram. I was was happy to have found someone sharing ideas for Small Space Living and with MAJOR style. I love how Astrid maximizes their outdoor space during all the seasons, key to making Small Spaces and entertaining mix! I also love her answers to the rapid fire questions at the end, talking about how living in a smaller space forces you to be pretty tidy all the time. I have to say I have noticed that too- everything has a place and the family all knows where that place is. I hope ... Read More
Friday Favorites starts with New Rug
We finally did it. I hate to admit how many hours I probably spend scrolling thru different rug options. You know, the jute rug, the "throw-up rug" poor Finn got sick on it and I ruined it trying to clean it. I was just going to order the same rug again but Kevin informed me the jute rug wasn't his favorite (WHAT??) and wanted one with "more color". Honestly I really like that he said that. I think it't cute that he likes the color in our home and cares about his surroundings. He really liked the one we had in here originally (the navy one) but I didn't love the navy right off of the black ... Read More
15 Examples Instead of using Lattice under the Deck
You know that book "If you give a mouse a cookie"? Well if you give a girl new siding, she wants a new deck. I mean not a full new deck. I have looked at our deck before but once you elevate one thing it makes the other shabby things looking...well, shabby! We have lattice underneath our deck and just don't love the look (for us) and mixed with our new Cedar Shingles. Too busy. A lot of you have the same thoughts about the lattice under your deck too and were looking for ideas! Thankfully the homes in our area are full of ideas to replace the lattice work. We live close to the beach and the ... Read More

Plans for our Exterior- New Siding- Cedar Impressions
We are SO excited to finally be doing something we have had on our wish list for awhile now! Kevin is actually the one who pushed for this project. New Siding in Cedar Impressions! Our home is a 1950's cape in Connecticut and 1100 square feet. The vinyl siding was fine, but it had some areas that were damaged. One damaged spot by the deck that the BBQ had melted! We came from Utah with a stucco home and never had to think twice about the siding melting! It melted the first time we used the BBQ. Not good! Our neighbors updated their wood shake shingles to Cedar Impressions last year. They ... Read More
Entrance to the Basement- Wallpaper in unexpected places
Our little 1950's cape does have an unfinished basement that won't ever be finished due to the fact that we live in a flood zone. Or if we add onto our home we would have to fill it in. We use the basement daily because it is also our laundry room, extra pantry, supply room, tool room, playroom (has a fuse-ball table) and more! It did not have a very welcoming entrance, leaving one of my kids afraid to go down there. I thought it would be a great place to add a fun wallpaper and of course a "Magic Light"! Basement Entrance BEFORE- It is funny how you live with something and ... Read More
Friday Favorites starts with Cleaning and Flowers
I LOVE Fridays. I actually have something to love about everyday. Don't you? But Fridays are typically my "house day". I am getting projects done around the house. I do most the deep cleaning, washing sheets, de-cluttering from the mess we might have made from the week. The biggest mess is un-seen in the basement! I like to get the big chores done so we can play with the kids and have a fun weekend. Do you tackle projects and cleaning on Fridays? Or do you have one day that you do the deep cleaning? We do laundry all through the week and vacuum daily. Makes me super thankful for only 1100 ... Read More
Front Porch Spring Reveal with Painted Steps
I think you all know one of my favorite things to decorate each season change is our front porch! Keep in mind the fact that I consider "front porch stalking" one of my hobbies, I am on a bike and with my kids so it is a legit hobby! I really appreciate and notice the efforts others put into caring for their homes. You just might be surprised to know how much people enjoy the effort YOU put into your exterior! We ended up painting our steps this time around with some stripes! I shared the DIY details to get the same look at the end of this post. Also check out how you can win an outdoor ... Read More
How to Mix Metals in the Kitchen and our Kitchen Faucet
This post is sponsored by Delta Faucet A common question I am always being asked is, "How do I mix metals in the kitchen?" We partnered with Delta Faucet to switch out our old kitchen faucet for one with a lifetime guarantee. While I was selecting the finish for our new faucet I began to think about why I chose our original faucet metal finish in the first place. There is a simple formula I follow and I am sharing it today! How I go about mixing metals. I typically like to mix two to three different metals in my kitchen. There is always a main metal that you have to ... Read More
