I pulled everything off my kitchen shelves and gave them a good cleaning. It’s nice to start with a blank space, a fresh start. I had found some really cute kitchen items at Target and couldn’t wait to get to work styling them…but want to make my new items look collected. Sharing my tips!

While shopping I noticed a lot of copper, ceramics and greens trending. I’ll show you how I bought some new items and mixed them with things I already have. PS- find all the paint colors in our home and cabinet colors HERE. Our dark counters are soapstone and our Island is marble.
Target Home Decor Finds-

Green mini lamp // Ribbed Cream mini lamp // Copper Mugs // Scalloped Dinner Plate // Copper Spoons // Copper Grinder // Marble Cake Plate // Burgundy Plaid Napkins // Scalloped Bowl // Marble Butter Keeper // Green and Copper Kettle // Fluted Stoneware Pitcher // Olive & Vinegar Set with Wood Base // Fluted Cream Canister Small // Fluted Cream Canister Large
Use Plants-

There are so many reasons I love styling a space with a plant. There are so many benefits of adding that green friend to your space, from helping with a good nights sleep to simply adding height or color. This Hoya Carnosa Tricolor is connecting both shelves by its leaves dropping down and filling in blank space. It also adds color and smoothes out edges- softens up all the hard corners of a shelf. You can find all my plant care tips here. PS- Scallop Serving Board HERE.

PS- you know I love a lamp in the kitchen! Just feels extra cozy, and the work of chopping vegetables feels romantic!

Add in Fruits and Vegetables-

Use fruits and vegetables AS the decor! I really am a believer in styling with things you actually use.

In the window by our sink I layered a cutting board to add substance and a bowl of garden vegetables with a real boxwood topiary.

I love the look of fresh fruit or veggies tied into decor. The color it brings to the space is so fun. Plus, when we see it-we eat it! It also makes your new items look “lived in” and hold a purpose. This scalloped serving bowl is holding our prized garden squash.
Style with Items you Use-

I am a firm believer in a functional kitchen. If it’s going to be sitting on my counter or on my shelves, it’s going to be something I use. So my biggest tip is to buy the “cutest” version of that item. Whether it be measuring cups or dishes. Make sure you love it and want it to be seen! Like these scalloped dinner and salad plates.

Mix Old with New-

Items like cook books, kitchen utensils and cutting boards can easily be mixed with new fun finds.

I love that copper is really trending. I have older copper colored items in my kitchen so adding these new mugs and the salt and pepper grinder felt like they were all just meant to be together.
Repeat Colors and Textures-

Place items that are similar in shape, height, color and texture repeatedly and sporadicly across all the shelves. For example, I have greens, yellow, whites, coppers and browns spread throughout my open shelving. Each shelf looking different but then standing back they all are cohesive.

These tips work for styling bookcases too! Happy styling!

Thank you so much for sharing those target finds! My cabinet painters in Syracuse, UT finished up our kitchen last week, and now I can’t wait to redecorate. I will be picking up one of those lamps. I hate when the big light is on, ruining the vibe haha. Thanks again!
