Twin Bedroom with Wave Wallpaper- In-Laws Home

We are back at my in-laws home! We started this twin guest room for the grandkids a few weeks ago and finally finished it! My in-laws have 15 grandkids and extended family who don’t live close, so when they come in Utah they can stay in one of their guest rooms. My mother-in-law did order a few things before we had an official plan, so I had a few things to work with like the rug, wallpaper, and ceiling fan. She loved the wave wallpaper we had in our girls shared bedroom in Connecticut so she ordered that and the same ceiling fan.

Guest Room with Twin Beds After-

Here it is! More of a monochromatic vibe. Soothing, earthy colors. Reminds me of ocean and sand. Ocean with the wallpaper, and sand with the rug and dresser! Both the wallpapers my mother-in-law ordered remind me of Hawaii, makes sense since it is their favorite place to travel. We wanted it be colors that majority of the grandkids would like, blue, green, white and pop of pink.
This was her inspiration for the wallpaper and ceiling fam, my girls shared bedroom in Connecticut!
We painted the beadboard in Softened Green from Sherwin Williams. It is a nice contrast to the wallpaper, and goes tons of the wallpaper, which some parts of the wallpaper looked slightly green up-close.
I found a book of Audubon Prints while thrifting a few months ago, knew they would come in handy in a makeover! I framed them in simple frames to layer over the wallpaper. And I always love to look for art or decor when we travel. We ate Thanksgiving dinner at Hotel De Coronado (with both parents) and got those pennants at the shops in the hotel.
Let’s chat about the bedding. I like to start my bedding with quality sheets, I found these Checkered Sheets and knew they would be perfect with the wave wallpaper. Then I layered this White Quilt (one of my favorites and comes in a bunch of colors)! A duvet is what adds the extra cozy “jump in” look! I used this Blue Duvet with this Duvet Insert inside.
On a twin bed I typically do 3 pillows, I played around with the look and now they have a few options! I did these Blue Euro Shams with my favorite Euro Insert. A stripe standard sham, and floral shams with this feather and down pillow inside. Quality inserts really make the bedding!
I folded the duvet three times to create an extra fluffy look at the end of the bed and showed another way to style your duvet below…
Folded the duvet down two to expose the sheets and quilt, and gives a fluffy look. Layered this knitted throw blanket at the end of the bed. PS- aren’t these camp stools so cute??
I liked seeing more white of the quilt, in this room to break up all the blue and green.
Added white linen curtain panels from The Company Store (two on each side, used this curtain rod).
We stacked two of these memo boards on top of each other to fill the wall and hang Polaroid photos of the grandkids. This shelf was a nice divider and place for a plant and a place for the camera.
The cloud art from Lindsay Letters really pulls in all the monochromatic colors! So perfect.
I got these coat hooks with long pegs locally (The Simple Nest) they hid the areas that the wallpaper was a little short! Easy fix! Plus nice to have hooks for for guests things.
Went with a larger cabinet here instead of a small nightstand. The size balances the two beds nicely.
The one lamp was enough for accent lighting for both beds. And we have a spot for a scallop bowl with diffuser, glass bottle of water to quickly fill diffuser, and essential oils.

    Your designs are stunning! What headboard did you use here? I can only find much narrower widths between beads. This takes the traditional look and makes it slightly more modern. I love it!!

    Love this room! What moulding did you use on top of and in the corners with the beadboard? I love the look it creates and want to recreate this in my little one’s room.
