We were excited to get our new Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone- The Illustrated Edition. I surprised my girls with it. We had just drove to DC this past weekend, about a 5 hour drive from our house and listened to the audio version on our way home. We were all really into it. My 2nd grader got mad whenever I paused it, she didn't want to stop listening. I had a friend recommend we listen to it, she said they would go sit in the car and listen to it when they were getting near the end. You can find a similar spider I have in my window HERE You can find the Harry Potter and ... Read More
Fall Door Ideas
These flowers were white in the spring and now have turned this gorgeous rusty pink color. They are one of my favorite flowers we have in our yard called Autumn Sedum, how perfect is that name? The rain forced them flat on the ground, I thought I better bring them in to enjoy a little longer. They last forever after you clip them and bring them inside. I also added clippings from my boxwood shrubs. I wanted to keep them alive longer than a day. I filled a Ziploc bag with water and wrapped an elastic around it to keep it secure. Be careful ... All About Bedding
I recently did two E-design plans for bedding. I thought I would share my guide on the perfect bedding. Too often I go into clients homes or get pictures where the pillows are just too small and they used too many. Another thing I see is flat pillows. Fill them with down or get a full fiber blend, a size larger than the actual pillows. Here are some tips on making the perfect bed. This is my bed right now, it changes often. But the key is the layers and the 26" euro shams. THESE two euro shams are in the back THESE sheets came with two standard shams that are layered in ... Read More
Connecticut Master Bedroom Tour
Welcome to our Master Bedroom tour. Don't blink... or you will miss it, it is a quick tour. Our bedroom is tiny about 10'x11' to be exact. I wanted to share this shot (it is not a great picture) to show you that we have two dressers in the room and we do have a TV above the highboy dresser. I fit an 8x10 rug in the space, that makes the room feel larger. You can find my rug HERE This was the bedroom we saw online when looking at the home, and actually all I saw was pictures before we bought the home. My husband flew out and bought the home without me seeing it, ... Read More
Protein Bites
First have you seen the movie Chef? It is on Netflix right now. I heard about it when I was listening to one of my favorite Pod Casts- Good life Project. The pod cast is all about finding happiness in your career and life. The movie Chef is such a great example of following your passions and it is pretty hilarious too. It is a must see! Now I don't think I am a chef, nor do I want to be. I just like to share things I enjoy and am passionate about...I guess Protein Bites are one of those things. I only buy granola bars to keep in my food storage and to take if we are going to be out ... Read More

My Sweet Savannah- Guest Home Tour
I love Melaine from My Sweet Savannah. She has a gorgeous home with so many great design ideas. You look at any of her photos and they are so charming and unique. I love how she mixes old with new. I told her I like to flatter myself and think we have similar design styles. I fell in love with her Fall Home Tour and had to share it with all of you. Get ready for a real treat! She found these vintage chairs, what a score. I love them mixed around her table. Melanie's walls are dark and moody like mine and we both have fabric headboards, basically we are twins. My girls ... Fall Home Tour
Welcome to my fall home tour! The other day while the girls were at school I cleaned the house and brought up some of my fall décor and picked up a few things at the store to get our home ready for fall. My daughters walked in and said "oh this looks so pretty, I love fall and all the colors." It made my day and everything I had worked on worth it. It made them feel happy to be home, it made them excited about the future, it made them feel that the are important enough that I would spend a little extra time to create a beautiful space for them. I filled my basket for my front door with ... Read More
Award Winning Honey and Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
I entered these cookies in a baking contest and won 3rd place. It was maybe just for a small gathering of about 100 people, but they were a hit. I made them because they are my husbands favorite and his first words as a baby were "cookie" so he is an excellent judge. We make these cookies all sorts of ways. But the favorite is with white chocolate chips, cranberries and nuts! But my kids like them just with semi-sweet chocolate chips! How to paint your piano
I get asked about my painted piano on Instagram all the time. I get it, I remember when I had wanted to paint my Great Grandmas piano I thought it seemed like such a big project and way to overwhelming. I would stare at it wishing it was painted. I thought I would have to move it to our garage or hire a painter to paint it. That is probably why it took me 7 years of owning our piano to finally do it. I found Annie Sloan chalk paint after doing some research, I knew that this would be the best route. No sanding involved or any prep work. I picked Paris Grey and picked it up ... Read More
