Sponsored post by West Elm
I was excited to hear that West Elm has a collaboration with Pottery Barn Kids featuring baby and kids furniture! As you know I am a big online shopper and when I do help the occasional client West Elm and Pottery Barn are some of my go-to for sources. I put together three different Design Boards for kids bedrooms and a gender neutral nursery, I would actually use any of these myself or send to clients. I can’t stress how important a design board is when starting to decorate a room. Just simply using a screen shot of the items you want to try in your space helps you to visualize what it will actually look like as it comes together. And starting with one main inspiration piece is the way to kick off the process. For me the main inspiration piece for each room below was either the wallpaper or rug!
Boys Bedroom Design Board-
#1- Black Canvas Basket /// #2- Giraffe Art /// #3-Buffalo Check Temporary Wallpaper /// #4-Wood Daybed ///#5-Gray Bedding
/// #6- Raccoon Stuffed Animal /// #7-Dresser /// #8- Small Black Lamp
I want this entire look for Finn’s big boy room! I love this look because it can “grow” with him as he get’s older. This works for Finn at 2 or at 15! Also the Buffalo Check Wallpaper is peel and stick! Easy to apply. I would personally use it as an accent wall and do a dark moody gray for the rest of the walls (if the room as good windows). That Black Canvas Basket is what will keep the room organized, I would get a couple and use for toys and puzzles! The Wood Daybed is a nice bed you could use in any space, a nice investment piece.
Girls Bedroom Design Board-
#1- White Quilt and Euro /// #2-Gray Sham ///#4-Gold Round Mirror ///#5-Bunny Wallpaper ///#6-Brass Bed/// #7- Bunny Lamp
#8- Blush Nightstand /// #9-all Narrow Dresser /// #10-Rug
This girls bedroom design board actually reminds me of my bedroom. That Blush Nightstand was my inspiration piece for this bedroom. And I am obsessed with that Bunny Lamp they have had in their regular line, I have used it in several girls bedroom design boards! The Bunny Wallpaper is so subtle and pretty, love the idea of it behind the open Brass Bed that can “grow” with her from 2-16 or I am 36 and want it! I think that is the key when choosing kids bedroom furniture, it can be whimsical and fun but also timeless if we keep that as a goal when looking for pieces.
Nursery Design Board (Gender Neutral)-
#1- Mobile///#2-Graphic Art///#3-Blackout Curtains /// #4-Honeycomb Quilt///#5-Crib Sheet///#6-Blue Rug ///#7-Crib with Storage ///
#9- Toy Storage///#10-Glider /// #11- Changing Table and Dresser
These are some of my must-have items for a nursery. Blackout Curtains , a comfy Glider , and a Changing Table that doubles as a dresser. I also recommend a darker or patterned Crib Sheet (we had a white one and it was impossible to keep white). And if you have a smaller nursery that Crib with Storage is genius! It is also good to get a crib that converts to a toddler bed (like that one does). We have several large canvas bags like THIS that we use for dirty clothes, toys and extra blankets.

LOVE that gold bed! I don’t have any kids, but I would definitely use some of this furniture for my rooms haha 🙂 Thanks for sharing! It’s always helpful to see example design boards
I LOVE everything about these rooms…..maybe I need some more kids, lol!!
There’s so much brightness in the color palette. It will be so cheery for the kids to play in. Great job!
The rug you chose for the girl’s room mood board is EVERYTHING!! We are getting ready to move & I’m thinking my little girls (who will share in the next house) need this to make their room complete!
Always LOVE how much inspiration and motivation your blogs give me! My house is slowly becoming the cozy and perfectly decorated home that I have been wanting! Keep up the amazing work!!!
I LOVE them all! I actually use all 3 color combos throughout our house already. Funny, I just ordered #1 & 4 from the nursery inspo for our toddler’s room for a little pop of fun color in an already grey and white color scheme. But that day bed in the first one…. love, love it!!
Oh my goodness that blush and gold nursery 😍😍 praying for a little girl next!!
Love the buffalo check wallpaper!!
I love the blush and gold room!! The bunny lamp is my favorite!
The bunny lamp is adorable! My kids are OBsessed with Peter Rabbit–they’d flip of they saw this lamp!
These are great! Love that day bed and girls rug. Great design board tips! Thank you!
Funny how the little giraffe pictur and the bunny lamp just make you smile and feel happy right away. Maybe we all need one of these items in our houses
Ahh, that girl’s bedroom design is so beautiful!!! I literally could see every item in an adult’s room!! Heading to check out that mirror and accent pillows asap!
Absolutely adore this blush and gold room! Need this for my daughter Olivia Rose as she transitions to a big girl room sometime this year! A beautifully decorated room for my sweet Rosie girl! 💕🙏🏻
I love the rug from the pink and gold nursery, I’d put it in my room. 🙂
I love that crib and glider 😍😍😍
💯% the buffalo check wallpaper is my fave!! Planning to put that in my daughters bathroom when I renovate it. Love the collaboration!
I don’t have any children (yet) but as a first time homeowner, I am SO inspired by these looks! I can’t wait to see where I can put that bunny wallpaper without my boyfriend noticing there are bunnies on it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ So cute!
Thanks, Brooke
I am learning from you this year that design boards are actually useful! I often end up buying what I like and then in the end the room doesnt look right. That post of how to make a design board was a lightbulb moment for me!
Thank for inspiring me!
Elizabeth
ps: I am in love with that rug for the girls room and want one for my bedroom.
I adore the giraffe picture!!
Love all these ideas! That buffalo check wallpaper is so cute! I really want to try the peel and stick wallpaper. Loving the girls room design board. So classy and pretty!
I love your ideas. I really didn’t have the separate room or finances to create a nursery for my kids. But now we have grandchild and I’m excited to create a room just for him.
I love the pink and gold, I have to say that I always tend to shy away from using gold when decorating, you changed my mind, love the color combo! I am off to find some Gold to add to my home! Love your decorating trends thank you for sharing.
Love the first one! Giraffes are my very fav!!!
Good morning! I really have enjoyed following your Instagram and blog. It has helped me look at my home a little differently. In today’s blog, although I don’t have babies at home any longer, I thought the crib with the storage on the bottom was such a brilliant idea. And, blackout Curtains are genius.
That wood day bed is amazing. Would be great for s boy or girl room.
I designed a blush and gold bedroom for my 20 year old, what a perfect style from young lady to young woman! Beautiful. 💗
I love the first option. You had me at black and white.
In love with the boys bedroom design. I love that it’s neutral so that if the little guy had a favorite color you could throw that in with accent pillow or rug.
Great design board!!!
I love both the boys and girls bedroom ideas. I have two sons who share a bedroom and color scheme is similar. I planned on adding a green dresser but now that I see the white dresser I may change my mind.
I love anything buffalo check related so, I love that peel and stick wallpaper!
Oh that bunny lamp..!!! I’m love! That couldn’t possibly be any cuter! Thanks for sharing this great find!
Swooning over here at the 1st and 2nd design boards! Loooove it. Thanks for inspiring!
Love these design boards! Perfect for my kiddos to grow up in. I love the black baskets and giraffe print my boys room and the sweet bunny lamp for my daughters room. Perfect inspiration for me! Thanks
Love all three boards! Especially love the first—great neutral room for boys, but by adding a few different accessories it could be a girl’s room, as well!🙂
These are great recommendations, thanks!! I also have the crib with storage and that converts to a toddler bed- I love it!
love these sweet kids rooms! I really need to find a new office chair so I hope to get one during the memorial day sales.
They are all beautiful. I love the little bunny lamp and the mobile in the 3rd grouping is adorable also. On a different note, I love your built ins in the living room! I need to show these to my husband and maybe he can just whip those right up. Haha….Seriously though, I would love to see Lowe’s or Home Depot having a great sale on white cabinets b/c we could get them started with that as a base. Keep bringing us the inspo. I love it!
Thanks!! This blog post might help him to build the bookcase!
http://nestingwithgrace.com/how-to-build-a-window-seat-and-built-in-bookcase-tutorial/
My favorites are the buffalo check wallpaper, the animal framed art, and the bunny lamp! I am thinking of using some kind of wallpaper when I update my laundry room, and that could be adorable in there!
Feeling inspired to get my kids rooms looking clean and cozy. I love this minimalist look! I have my eye on the blush nightstand. I’ve been looking for a timeless, functional (and feminine) nightstand for my 3 YO daughter’s room. She loves to read before bed and I’m SO over having books strewn across the floor!
Buffalo check for the win!!! Love that room. So cute but also grown up too… Agree that it could totally grow with your child. I love all the inspiration and just pure JOY you provide!!!! I’m going through something INCREDIBLY stressful and difficult right now, and you are a bright spot in my day. Thank YOU!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I love when you can create a room that will grow with the child. It saves money and time because you don’t have to redo the room a few years later!
The blush and gold girls’ room is so good! It gave me so many ideas for my daughter’s room that I’m ready to update! Live your ideas! Thank you for sharing!!
Good morning 🌞 Being of the 50ish age group I have to say I love your blog😊. Your so creative at not having age discrimination lol. Sure there are things that don’t pertain to me in my home but certainly fun festive things to pass on with grandkids etc. Thanks for keeping this Nana in the game of fun fun fun.
Love the girls room and neutral nursery! The nursery is fun with it being more neutral with pops of color.
Love everything in the black and white boys’ room! I have always liked bed black and white … in any room! The giraffe print is especially delightful!
Love your blog!! My husband and I bought our first home and moved in about a month ago; your blog and Instagram page provide daily inspiration for making our home more cozy! Love the neutral boys room in this post and that buffalo check wallpaper!
Um….I want that gold and pink room for myself! Not sure my husband would go for it! I love every one of the room designs!
LOVE LOVE LOVE your posts! Excited every time a new email comes through! Such great ideas all the time! The baskets/ canvas bags are a perfect storage idea for kids storage. I’m in need of a few more baskets in my little guys’ room. Thanks for the inspiration yet again 🖤
I love that rug and bed in the little girls room! I’m About to redo both kids rooms, so glad to know west Elm has a kids line!
Hi Brooke! I am expecting our first baby (a girl!) in October- a miracle baby for me and my husband and we are simply thrilled and so grateful.
I LOVED Finn’s nursery and I think my two favorite items in his post are the colorful mobile with the balls, and the blush / rug used in the girls’ room. My tastes run the gamut, as you see, but love this new collaboration from two great brands.
I loved all of your design boards but the girls bedroom was my favorite!!!- It’s a beautiful room that a little girl can grow up in- the rug is to die for!!! Your ideas inspire me because I too live in a small house with my husband, a dog, & a cat!!
I love the girls vision board. I’m so in love with the blush pink. I love how you incorporated it throughout your house. It’s neutral enough that it’s not too girly and can be used in shared spaces with males. I love your style. Your blog and Instagram is my go-to when looking for new ideas!!
Well that nursery board makes me want another baby 😳 Oops … too late. Factory is closed and workers have left the building. Sorry uterus!! 🤣 BUT … I love how ALL of these boards are timeless and the principles can really be applied to any room!!! SPECtacular Brooke thank you …
You had me at “sponsored by West Elm”. They have become my go to for furniture and decor and I’m thinking I should have another kid hush to snag that crib! Love the design boards!
Love love love that bunny lamp!!!
I’ve had my eye on that West Elm day bed forever now! Thanks for showing a cute way to pull it all together! These nursery ideas make me so excited to start my family 🙂
Love these designs for these three bedroom ideas, it seems so simple and and light!
Love you inspiration 🌸
I love the giraffe picture. I would hang it in my dining room though. It makes me think of all of our family trips to the zoo and Animal Kingdom!
Love the buffalo check wallpaper and the lamp for a boys room. I get so much inspiration from your posts. My kitchen drawers look like large junk drawers. Next project is to get those organized! Keep the ideas coming!
The rug in The Girls Design Board. I want it for my bedroom! 😉
Love everything about these boards and your blog. Very inspiring !
Love the ideas for the girls bedroom. You always have such fresh and exciting ideas.
Can’t wait to finish outdoor decorating this weekend! Looking to pick up an outdoor rug and some more plants/flowers to cozy up my deck!!
Love the nursery idea – fun looking at when having a baby. Thanks for your fun ideas and inspiration 🙂
For Memorial Day sale hoping to buy a patio set to surprise my husband for his birthday 🙂 your outdoor posts over the last few weeks have really got me thinking about how to do it. Thanks again!
I have been looking for kid’s room Design inspo!! Looking to freshen up their rooms this summer ❤️ Thanks 😊
Loving them.all but the first board is SO good…NEED that wallpaper!!
I love the Blush and Gold room – this combo would be so easy to change as your child grows! I always tried that approach when my kiddos were little. Love your blog, Happy Thursday!
Karen
Oh my! I think your idea for fins big boy room is great and I like that you could even add hints of color to it and make t fit for a girl! We are expecting a little girl in September and the nursery must haves are exactly what we need! Thank you!!
My four kids are all in their twenty’s. 😱I wish they had all this fun stuff when they were little! So much to chose from now and all so amazing ! Love your blog and all your posts . 👍😃
Love, love, love your blog! I have also been loving somethings at West Elm – the marbled basket weave throw, Mongolian lamb pillow in pink, the fresh eucalyptus wreath, and those fairytale vases….
I love the grey bedding mixed with the blacks and whites.. and the peel and stick wallpaper! That raccoon is adorable too!! Awesome designing as always!!😍
I recently redid my teenage daughter’s room in white, blush, and touches of black. I love how you add the gold touches to these colors. I get so much inspiration from you every day! Thank you for all that you do and share with us!
I love the buffalo check wallpaper (classic and perfect for any room – feminine or masculine) and the sudden availability of removable wallpaper!! My dorm room would have been so cool back in the day!
I love the buffalo check wallpaper and round mirror! Thanks for all the great ideas!!
I just love the inspiration you give me!! I’m currently doing another nursery for our little girl due in nov and designing our playroom for two girls. A mood board is such great advice!! I have a few items already and I’m going to make a board for sure. I’m so in love with wallpaper but it always just seems so expensive but I’m thinking I might save up for one one of these projects! Love that bunny lamp too 🙂
Buffalo check wallpaper gives me life.
I love the how the girl’s room is not ‘too girlie’, but also has a very feminine feel to it. My daughter is 12.5 and is not very feminine, but she has expressed interest in some things that are a little feminine, so this board is very inspirational for me!
I just found out I’m expecting baby #2 and of course this collaboration comes along…. 😣 I don’t think I’m going to find out the gender this time so the last option was inspiring for me, love all those cheery pops of gold!
Love the midcentury modern nursery must-haves. The yellow and grey combination is awesome!
All the rooms are just lovely. Sophisticated yet approachable. I love the bunny lamp in the little girls room with it’s ears just peeking out!
Love the big kid bed in the “Blush & Gold to Grow”! We are on the hunt for a platform bed and this one is classic but beautiful. Thanks for all the great design inspo 🙂
I’ve used navy in my sons room but and living the black check. I’ve wanted to use that somewhere in my house and now I know how!! Just have to get my husband on board to get our son a new bed! Lol thanks fo SO much great inspiration! My mind is swirling ALL DAY LONG after watching your stories or reading your blog!! You’re the best!! Thank you!!
I’m a sucker for a little boy’s room! That bed and dresser are perfect!!
This post is perfect. I’m going to be a grandmother for the first time, and am planning on converting my son’s old bedroom into a nursery. So many good ideas for kids of any age. Thanks for the inspiration.
I’d love to buy some art for our newborn’s nursery! The nursery is pretty much complete but art can be so pricey!
I LOVE the black and white! Your style is so warm and cozy, I look forward to reading all your posts. Thank you.
LOVE the girls bedroom, especially that bed frame. Moving in less than two weeks and I am so excited to work with my 8 year old to design her room. I will be showing her this board for some inspiration!
That girls room bed is a DREAM. and I love the dresser you paired with it. Love the small scale because our kids rooms are just that, small! Gorgeous spaces. And now I’ll be keeping an eye on that bed!
These are such great pieces you’ve chosen, love them all! Thanks for sharing your gift of design with the rest of us! 🙂
We are moving next month and my girl is ten! This post is perfect for her as we pour over ideas as to how to make the jump from little girl room to growing up room but still keep it fun. I love how you said whimsical yet classic- we will make our design board tonight! She is definitely all about that blush color right now, maybe I can add some of the classic pieces like that bed!
I decorated my boy’s room black, white, and hunter green! the black and white is such a wonderful canvas! As he grows he will get to add favorite colors and it is an easy adjustment! The blush and gold make me want to talk to the hubby about expanding our family!
I LOVE the rug!!! It’s perfect! I’ll definitely be getting that for my girl! We’re going to re do her nursery and this gave me a ton of inspiration! We have such a mismatch currently but the blush pallet is great for being able to use my gender neutral grey!! 👏🏼👏🏼
Your design boards are all so good. The boys room with the giraffe pic is fresh, modern and adorable. But actually I love that you shared tools for how to make a design board of our own! Downloaded PicMonkey and ordered the furniture template and I’m so excited to take control of my plans as opposed to getting overwhelmed (Pinterest paralysis anyone?) Thank you!
My daughter is about to become a big sister and we’re working on her “big girl” room now! Her nickname is “Bunny” – pretty sure we NEED that lamp! 🙂
LOVE the girls bedroom design! I’m needing to actually start finishing decorating my daughters room! Its been furniture only since shes moved into it 8 months ago! LOL
Perfect Timing! My youngest daughter is expecting her first baby. I can’t wait to show her your blog. I love both the boy & girl’s nursery. We have 6 grandsons, so it would be exciting to have a grand daughter. I’m in love with the bunny lamp & blush accents!
I think #1 is my favorite. I have a 2 year old boy and always have my eyes open for some good “big boy room” inspo – he is also a giraffe lover so that may have played a role too. I have a very similar print I found at Homegoods hanging in our playroom. I am also a new found lover of all things wood; especially for a boy’s room so I think that bed is absolutely gorgeous.
I love the buffalo check wallpaper and the subtle, yet colorful accents in the nursery! Definitely gonna have to start a vision board for my son and daughters shared room!
I love that although each of the rooms can grow with the kids, they each hav a fun – youthful element that can be easily changed out in the future as they get older. Thanks for the continuously exceptional design ideas!
Thank you for the inspiration! I haven’t used a design board before. I just end up buying things I like and don’t always love the way they look together once in the room so I end up returning and searching for more items. I love the boys bedroom board, it can definitely grow with them. It has just enough “kid” look to it that is perfect for a toddler and can easily be changed out once they get older.
This is definitely making me want to make some changes at home! 🙂
I love both the daybed and that buffalo check wallpaper! This summer my twins will finally be moved into their own room and these items are such a great starting point.
I love how classic yet unique come together on all of these! They are all so inspiring! Playing around my home has always been a hobby of mine! Thank you for the inspiration!
I LOVE IT ALL. Is 25 too old to shop at PB Kids for myself?!?
Love the blush & gold! I’m doing one room at a time and my youngest is a tween so I’m looking for inspiration. Thank you for your design help! I’ve shopped so many of your posts and your links are so so helpful. Thank you for the time you invest!
I love the boys room! We are moving into our new house in July and I want to give my 3 year old his big boy room! We didn’t get his nursery decorated or nothing so I want to decorate his room now that we have better jobs! I loved the wall paper specially!
I love all these. I only have a boy but I love the Blush and gold board! Makes me want to have another baby lol.
Now I want to have kids … so pretty!! 😍💓 my mom loved shopping at PB Kids when we were young! I remember going to the store and envisioning my room looking like the displays 💓
I would totally use the black and white design board for my house! I’m pretty sure the buffalo check wallpaper will be in my house somewhere by the end of summer!
You had me at buffalo check wallpaper. i don’t care what age or sex you are or what year it is…buffalo check in black and white always works
Oh my goodness…that bunny lamp is ADORABLE!!
Such great inspiration in all 3 boards! Love the buffalo check for boys, blush accents for girls, and the primary without being TOO primary for the nursery. But i have to say I think my favorite part of this post is your pink bandana :). Love all of your posts and your insta stories. We are in the process of buying our first home and seeing your beautiful home has given me so many great ideas, so THANK YOU!
Love the “black and white to grow” mood board! I’m a sucker for black and white buffalo plaid and those animal prints (we have the alpaca and panda!). 🙂
I love that you did a post on kids rooms! We are transitioning my daughter to a big girl room and I LOVE everything about that blush Nightstand!! We’re also incorporating prints of animals and the giraffe just makes me happy!
This is great!! I’m such a visual learner I don’t know why I haven’t used a design board for decorating our home!! These are beautiful and practical room inspirations that we will DEFINITELY be using for our boys room and even our master. 🙂 Thank you for sharing, I can’t wait to get started!!
I love the blush and gold girls room! Reminds me of my daughter’s room. A year ago, I painted the walls a light pink with grey undertones. At first I was nervous to jump on the blush bandwagon with the wall color but it works so well! We have a big neutral rug, grey wood stained bunk beds, gold picture frames and a round gold Mirror and it all works so well together! I love reading your blog and I watching your insta stories for inspiration. I am determined to find a spot in my house to do the magic light trick soon!! 🙂
First of all, let me tell you I love your blog!I have been following you for quite a while. So many smart ideas for living in a small space(not everyone lives in BIG houses). Mine is a 996 sg ft townhouse that I love and am blessed to have! I like the boys bedroom board especially the removable wallpaper. Please keep the great content coming! Greetings from South Carolina.
I love the black and white vibe in the boys room! Ive been looking for a dresser to update by sons current one so this would be a great fit! Thanks so much for the inspiration!!
I love the idea of a dream board! We live in a small home and my 3 year old son shares a room with my 9 mo old twin girls. I love the gender neutral room ideas like that colorful mobile and blue rug!
My Finn is the same age as yours and he needs a big boy room soon. I love the one you put together!!
YES! Almost time to ditch the crib!! Sad at the same time 🙁
LOving the blush and gold room!! One of my daughtersis 10 years old and she is wanting a more “grown up” room and those colors are perfect for her!
I love the yellows and navy’s in the nursery power point. I am obsessed with the blush nightstand in the girls room as well.
I love the color scheme for the gender neutral nursery! Gender neutral is the way to go for me. With wanting multiple kids I love the money saving aspect of re-using decor just maybe in a different way to mix things us.
We’re planing a patio transformation this weekend with some of your recent light hanging tips!
The Buffalo check wallpaper is stunning! I am think I will use it on my entry wall!
In love with the boy to grow room and that amazing black canvas basket!!! Thanks for sharing these design boards they serve as wonderful inspiration.
I love to dream decor all my spaces, but I had never thought about a design board before Nesting With Grace! I love it, it really helps the spaces feel cohesive!
Love the buffalo check wallpaper! Your love of wallpaper has me constantly looking around my house to try and see where I can incorporate something fun! Would just need to convince my husband! ( ;
I love the gender neutral nursery especially the baby mobile. I love how it adds a pop of color to the room.
I love your blog and your home! It is cozy perfection. Thank you for your inspiration and expert advice!
I love the blush nightstands from West Elm for my baby girl’s room or for my own bedroom. They have a great mid century modern look to them. I’ll be buying white and black paint this Memorial Day weekend to paint our tatty looking play set just like you did back in April. I look forward to bringing our play set back to life with a fresh coat of paint. Thanks for your great ideas!
Thanks for the inspiration on using a design board.. Cat wait to try it.
I love the forward thinking! I tend to concentrate on the given age, theme in our kids lives which ends up equivalent to tossing energy and money to the birds! My hard to impress teenage daughter loves the gold and blush! I feel like REAL progress is ahead for her room. Many thanks!
Love these design boards!! And not just for nurseries. I want to use the buffalo check wallpaper on my stair wall! And, I love the bunny lamp and the gorgeous beds you chose. Excellent taste, beautifully composed dream boards. 😍
I love the girls room inspo. my little lady will be transiting to a big girl room soon and I’m loving the blush gold. That rug gives me all the feels! Thanks for inspiring us!
I LOVE the buffalo check wallpaper. I have wanted to try the peel and stick wallpaper for a while now and with this one, I must! I have 2 little boys who will eventually share a room so this is perfect. Thanks!
These are all so cute! I love the blush table.
I love Finn’s current bedroom but I could see how he could transition into the first mood board. I love high contrast rooms.
I bought the giraffe art already as a start to my sons big boy room! I was thinking safari theme but this shows me that I can really take it in any direction! Thx!
The rug and bunny lamp are perfect gifts for me to order for my God daughters room as they have just moved into their new home. Lolly (this is what they call me) has been asked to help decorate their room. Your selection of choices could not have come at a better time. Thanks.
All of these turned out beautifully! And obviously I want to go make a design board now…. West Elm is for sure on our weekend errand list while we work on furnishing our master! 🙂
Having two boys, I love the boys room, especially the cheeky giraffe. And I love the link to the design board! I will use that ALOT in the future. I am an architect and tend to do inspiration board the old fashioned way – with samples. It’s nice to see an idea come together in an electronic format.
LOL – I actually just READ the post about inspiration boards and I realize it is about doing one the hold fashioned way – not electronic. So what do you use for coming up with your graphics for your inspiration boards for your website? 🙂
I am hoping to buy a gas fire pit for my patio during the Memorial Day sales. I love the one you have.
I love the color palettes you use! And I’m pretty sure I would live in that blush and gold room :).
I loved the reminder to have an inspirational board. We just moved and I am working on my boys’ room this weekend. The girl”s inspirational board is exactly how my daughters is. It is definitely something she can grow with.
I love room designs that can grow with the kid. And these designs use so many good pieces. I have always loved the look of West Elm’s dressers, and that brass bed is spectacular! I think I’ll have to take advantage of the sale to get the black and marble lamp for my boys room though; it’s so fun yet sophisticated. But I mean, fingers crossed for a gift card…
Looking to buy an area rug and lamps during Memorial day Sales. All of your blogs posts get me excited to change up the feel of my home for the summer!!
I love the boys room, buffalo check, wallpaper and black baskets. How classic. It’s not easy to find baskets that are not in carnival colors.(ha-ha). I needed inspiration to redo my son’s room. I did it, when he was 4, too child like with painted clouds and airplanes and now he turned 11 yesterday. It did not grow with him.
Thanks for the post! Such a good reminder to use a design board and choose a jumping off point/single item to base the rest of the design on. We are wanting a new rug for my daughter’s room. I’m finding it hard to choose a style while trying to coordinate her current decor. Using a design board will be a huge help!
Love all the ideas for kids rooms you posted. Such a great idea to choose something neutral that will grow with them, and add in smaller pieces that are more “now” for their age/preferences, etc.
I love that buffalo check wallpaper in the first one. I have been wanting to add wallpaper to my son’s room – but our walls are heavily textured, and the wallpaper I have tried doesn’t stick.
Memorial day sale – you have inspired me to reorganize my kitchen cabinets! Hahaha. that will be my weekend 🙂
I am over the moon in love with the bunny lamp! Our first grandchild is expected in a few weeks. Those bunny ears peeking out would be sure to put a smile on any child’s face!!
Blush and gold to grow, LOVE!! 😍😍😍 I’ve been thinking about building a design board with your new rug with pink in it for my daughter’s big girl room but this is a great option too…love it all! Thank you!!
I am now completely obsessed with black and white buffalo check ANYTHING after following you on instagram!!! Love the boys room and the versatility of the pieces you chose. I look forward to your blog each day during my lunch break at work:)
Love the girls room inspirations, we’re getting ready to update our four year old Georgia’s room with a new big girl bed. You and I have similar design styles so I LOVE your blog and social Instagram! I’m trying to figure out how to add her favorite color purple into her blush, coral, gold and mint room. I might have to let this battle go!
I would like to get a bench for my kitchen table. Pottery barn kids has great stuff for adults too!
Blessings
I love anything buffalo check, it gets me every time! My baby girl’s room is blush and gold!
I’m drawn to number 3. I like the blue and yellow and that beaded mobile would be easy enough to replicate. When I had our kids I would have been happy for any of them. Our son was brought home and his “crib” was the bottom drawer of our only dresser in our furnished 3 room apartment. We were poor, poor, poor but it all worked out. Married 49 years and that sweet boy is 48. We definitely made lemonade out of lemons!
Olay so I am not a little girl, at this point in my life but…… oh but I am so in love with the little girls room design board. I love the colors, and style its right up my alley. This GLAM-MA, could rock that room at my age…My favorite piece is the pink dresser, the style, the color, it just makes me wanna be a kid again… LOL
I love your style, and the way you put things together that I would never have thought would go together, and then wwwaaalllaaahhh, AMAZING!! Thanks so much for sharing your talents.
I have a baby boy and started doing a black and white minimalist theme with Forrest animals here and there to accent, because I love the idea of making it a theme they can grow with!
Love the peices you chose for Finn’s design board! 😍
I love that black and white “Boy’s Bedroom”. Actually, with that daybed, it would also be the perfect look for someone just moving into their first studio apartment.
I love these designs and would choose the pink night stand and rug to go in my daughters room. We’ve already got the bedding and pillows and just need to finish off the room.
I love the rug in the girl’s room inspiration board! I have been looking for something in those colors- what a beautiful design. Great job 🙂
Love the gold bed and that rug for a girls room!!! I love the idea of not being so wasteful, designing tons of new rooms as your kids grow. Great ideas!!!
Love the girls bedroom mood board! That bed is 😍
Love the girls’ bedroom. Our granddaughter stays with us a lot and she would love the gold bed. The bed in the boys’ bedroom would be great in my twin grandsons’ room. Design boards are a great idea.
I think either styles are great for kids and do double duty when you have guests because they could accommodate siblings and they could give up their rooms. I think the holiday weekend is a time to re-evaluate the importance of having less stuff and more about the yard, talking to your kids, and riding bikes.. you have an unusual knack of sharing that importance to your readers. Family is so important these days – making your home a haven for teaching, cooking, and play. Thanks for your inspiration . Happy Memorial Day
Love the blush nightstand! You are a constant source of inspiration and motivation.
Great post; full of cute ideas. I love the b&w buffalo check paper (wish the other color options had white in them also); and the round gold mirror is so simple and pretty – a very versatile piece. 😍
I love love love the black and gold boys room! Definitely my favorite. But… if I had a little girl, that blush and gold would be exactly what I’d want in her room. 😍😍😍
Wow, i LOVE that crib with under the bed storage. Such a great idea for small house storage.
I love the subtle-ness of each group of rooms. The colors are perfect. I also love the femininity of the girls room but it doesn’t scream pink!
Love the buffalo check wallpaper and the overall color pallet for the boy room.
I LOVE both of the big kid rooms! I am so inspired by your use of wall paper! Makes me want to find a spot for it in my home!
I love the daybed! I also really like the round gold mirror. I’m thinking of having something similar in my side entry so I have a place to check my hair {to see if a hat is necessary} on the way out the door;)
I just bought a white crib for my grandchildren and love the gender neutral board….especially the honeycomb quilt, which I already have in my cart. It will be perfect in the room, which doubles as a guest room with other gold accents in it. All your boards are sweet!
Love the word “grow”.
Each board & room can grow from infant to 100 years. Simple, timeless, & affordable to create, change & grow.
Love the girls’ nursery RUG!! Too bad I only have boys 😉 I’m thinking I want to do some wallpaper in their room in our new house though…the gingham would be so cute!
I love the buffalo check removable wall paper and the bunny lamp! Ok also the toy storage bin thing! Too much cuteness to choose just one thing 😍
Bunny wallpaper and lamp are fabulous
I LOVE the bunny items in the girls’ rooms because it reminds me so much of my daughter. I also love your pink bandana headband in the first photo! You’re so cute.
I love love LOVE the blush nightstand!! Really everything about the girl’s room design board is to die for!! 🙂
That dresser in the boys bedroom design 😍😍
That glider and crib with storage from the gender neutral nursery GET ME SO GOOD!!!!! From a functional, and pretty perspective! But that boys room to grow is so chic and perfect (and simple!!!! I mean, come on, black and white? So easy! Doable!)
Love the Buffalo Check wallpaper!!
The brass and bronze lamp from the Boy’s room is so classic with a modern twist. Little touches like this elevate any room. West Elm is my fav! I’m probably a little too obsessed with them! Good job on the mood boards!
I’ve been really drawn to that buffalo plaid wallpaper. I was thinking about using it inside my kitchen cabinets for a little surprise when you open the doors. I’m just wondering if I’d tire of it too soon. I love all your wallpaper in your house. I want to find some wall that needs a little love!
I really love the first one…Finns big boy room idea! I had all boys (4) and even though they are grown and gone from home☹️I still tend to decorate and furnish our home with dark colors and masculine pieces. I really love the Check wall paper and the bed! Keep up all you do…you continue to inspire me and your spreading of kindness in the world!
Love that buffalo check temporary wallpaper!
I love everything about your design boards. I wish I had your talent for putting together a plan. I am so glad I found your blog 😍
I love that you are designing bedrooms that will “grow” with the children. My youngest is graduating from high school and her bedroom has been the same since she was a little girl. There are so many other things that we, as parents, have to spend our money on. (Like 3 in college come September) UGHHHH!
Love that West Elm dresser in the design board for Finns room! The whole board is super cute!!
Such cute rooms! I just redecorated my girls rooms, ages 7 and 10. It was so much fun! Next time I’ll have to try my hand at a design board!
I love alot of the items butin general of love the simplistic yet timeless looks you have put together. I also have my girls in the same room and the blush white and gold board has given me some ideas 🙂 thank you!
I LOVE the buffalo check wallpaper! Could see myself using that in my next nursery if we have a boy! Also the taller white dresser for the girls room looks like a great space saver! Always looking for smart pieces like this!!! The subtle use of colors inspires me. I tend to go pattern/color happy!!! Thanks for sharing!!

I just started using design boards thanks to your easy to follow guide!! Game changer!
Just got so many good ideas for our 4 year old boy/girl twins! We are actually getting ready to move them into their own bedrooms and trying to find furniture that will grow with them is challenging. Love these 2 design boards.. going to take advantage of this discount code this weekend! Thanks Brooke!
Love this! Just the inspiration I need to pick out the nightstands in my daughters room – the last piece of her room makeover which I’ve been putting off. Thanks!
I’m so thankful you posted about kids rooms and nurseries. My husband and I are pregnant with twins and will be crib shopping this weekend!! I’ve already showed him your original blog post of Finn’s nursery and can’t wait to use some of these ideas to decorate our babies room!!
I really like the canvas toy storage on rollers! I think it could be used in different ways and grow with my kiddos. I love your boards Brooke, you are so creative!!!
I love the wood daybed.
These design board are so great, definitely something I need to try for each room in my house. I really love that buffalo print wallpaper!
This is so timely. I’m currently putting together a grow with me room for my preschooler. In a few years, the room will house two kids (boy and girl), so I’ve been thinking ahead as I create the space. An idea board is in order. Thank you for the reminder!
There are 2 pieces that to me are just dreamy (no pun intended). The daybed. It is not only beautiful but you can use it in an office or a child’s room. The second is the rug. It is so lovely with the details of pink and blue. It reminds me of a garden with blue skies. Just dreamy. 🙂
I am drawn to the canvas toy storage. It would be nice for when the grandkids come to roll out the toys and then roll back into the closet when they are done.
Ugh, yay! This is so helpful! Little man is in a gender neutral nursery now and I’m already trying to come with ideas for his room change. I love the simplicity and class of the boys room ideas. I dont often think wallpaper but you are making me change my ways. Love the checkered wallpaper. We also have a small house and I try to minimize and hide clutter as much as possible. One tip that helped in our nursery was putting some shelving like a spice rack on the closet door for medicine, soaps and other little items.
I just love the black and white boys room. I just found your blog and love your style , I also live in a small house 960 square feet. Always looking for ways to make it function better and of course look beautiful!
Pretty gold bed in girl’s room will grow with her into teenage years. Good choice.
I like it all! I just love the inspiration I get to try new things and continue making my home ta place that makes me happy. I want it to be functional, but also warm and inviting…somewhere I want to be. I’ve been working on my porch this last week and I’m having so much fun! I could sit out on the porch all day. Thanks for all your inspiration!im loving what my home is becoming!
