Making the Bed- Bedding Inserts and our Latest Bedding

The key to a fluffy bed is all about the bedding inserts! I have worked in a high-end design store since I was 15, a lot of years! I bought my first fluffy duvet when I was 20, and it cost around $300, I saved up for it, I wanted fluffy bedding instead of any pair of name brand shoes or bag. And guess what, I had that same duvet, for 20ish years, up until maybe 4 years ago, when I gave it to someone for a bedroom makeover. When you buy quality inserts, they last and they are the foundation to every good bed.

Just switched out our bedding for a fall look! I love a really fluffy bed, which doesn’t have to mean a lot of pillows. A fluffy bed means it looks like if you jumped in the bed you would leave an imprint when you got up, and really wouldn’t want to get up! Sharing all the keys to creating a fluffy bedding look and all the beds in our home!

This was my Summer Bedding look and below the fall…. which a summer or fall look can be someone’s everyday look!

I fell in love with these printed sheets as soon as I saw them! I like to use the sheets as part of the design of the bed, so you see them, I don’t put the pattern side down, since I like to see the pattern on the outside. They inspired our fall bedding look! I paired the sheets with this really fluffy quilt, matching shams, lumbar pillow, and a pop of terracotta you can see below…

Bedding Inserts and Bedding Basics-

Mattress Pad Cooling– this mattress protector is also cooling and has a fiber fill for gentle cushion.
Mattress Protector – this mattress pad is waterproof! “Ultra-thin waterproof barrier sits between two layers of soft cotton jersey ensuring a quiet and restful sleep while repelling liquids and stains”
Mattress– we have all Green Guard Certified mattresses, read all about them here!
2″ Mattress Pad– I like this mattress pad as an option if you don’t love your mattress and don’t want to buy a new mattress. 2-inch mattress pad designed to add a little extra comfort to help relief pressure points like hips and shoulders.
Duvet Insert- Extra Warmth– (ultra & extra feel about the same) this is my favorite insert!!! Nothing else can make your bed as full and fluffy! I love that it is organic too. A quality duvet is cooling in the summer and warming in the winter.
Sham Insert- Firm– this sham looks best for the decorative pillows you want extra full (get standard for all beds, and King for King beds).
Euro Insert- Firm– only insert I use for euro shams, I go with the firm/
Sleeping Pillow Adjustable– my favorite pillow to sleep on! I love that it is toxic-free, green guard certified. Also that you can easily adjust it to fit how you like to sleep.
Sleeping Pillow Foam– My kids like this one because of the height and not to firm or too soft feel. Also green-guard certified.

I am really drawn to the color terracotta, love the dramatic, earth tone color it adds to any room. I had tried painting this room terracotta and it was a fail! This linen duvet (color Dark Orange) is a great way to mix it in for fall, and with all my terracotta pots for plants! I did a similar look for my friend, Laila HERE, you can see it below too…

Also the look without the terracotta, this really fluffy quilt looks great without a duvet, just the quilt alone is fluffy!

**Duvets and comforter’s**– The best down inserts can last up to twenty years, while down alternative comforters have a shorter life expectancy—about five to ten years. I typically use THIS Organic Duvet Insert- Extra Warmth on ALL my beds. I did just find this Duvet you can unsnap a layer if too hot in the warmer months. A quality duvet can be cooling too! We use a duvet in the summer also because it doesn’t get hot.

And I did just try this Down Pillow Top for an extra fluffy look. It is very extra, and not needed, but it need add some height to my mattress and extra coziness!
