On my Instagram the other day. I talked about how my really good friend lived in a small house in Downtown Salt Lake City. Most homes in that area are older, just like mine and smaller scale. I have to say I LOVED driving up to her home and passing the small quant restaurants all glowing at night. She lived on the most charming street, one of those streets you want to get out and walk so you can peep in the windows. Well one of downsides to this charming area and home is lack of storage. Back then we lived in 3,000 square feet in a new residential area. I have to admit I was a little horrified ... Read More
Back To School-Three Tips That Keep Mom Sane!
We are headed back to school next week. It got me thinking of what we can do to be successful at this whole school thing. Besides the basic homework and getting enough sleep. Because I have had kids leave the house in tears and I want to go pull them out of class and give them a hug (or text them a message, thank goodness for the Gizmo Gadget, anyone's kids have one of those? Best thing ever!) I can typically relate it back to the fact that we were not prepared. So I shared three of my little back to school tips that have kept me sane and also made getting to school on time a lot easier with ... Read More

Maximize A Small Space with a Secretary Desk
Living in a small space has been a learning curve. I can move something an inch and be like...YES! why didn't I do that before? Seriously. Small homes or small rooms for that matter have to be maximized, everything has to serve a purpose or it is out. I talked about this new Secretary Desk I found a couple weeks ago. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it in our small house. I had a small dresser by our front door before, I did like the dresser for storage but it was old and the drawers didn't open too well- it was frustrating. So it got cut. I am not sure if this Secretary Desk will stay ... Read More
Three Different Looks-To Determine Your Design Style
I warned you I was going to wallpaper this accent wall again! Remember how I had no wallpaper here- then wallpaper- then no wallpaper again and now wallpaper (did I loose you?) I took down the previous wallpaper because it was temporary and I was ready for a change. I thought I would like it with no wallpaper here, just keeping it simple because that look is really "in". Well turns out I don't care if simple is in, I love character more than I like simple and safe. So there you have it. For those of you who might not fully know or have yet to embrace your personal style. I have THREE different ... Read More
Friday Favorites Start with a Home Created with Purpose
I am going to be honest with you. I LOVE decorating our home- I would change things often even if the blog didn't exist. Maybe because of the blog changes are made more often, but they would still be made. BUT one thing that I struggle with as a blogger and on social media is I don't want to sound like I am saying "buy this or look what I just got!" or "Look at my perfect house." I want to share with purpose and design with purpose. I blog and share our home because it pushes me personally to set goals and stay creative. Keeps me sane. I have that achiever personality that I feel lousy at ... Read More
Wallpaper Accent Wall in the Girls Shared Bedroom…again
I have to tell you. I think this is finally my favorite way I have my girls bedroom. I do change out their bedding often and move pillows around. I even had different wallpaper on this accent wall. It was temporary, peel and stick. So if you get an itch for a change (like someone I know) you can rip it off the wall in under 5 minutes without any casualties or damage to your precious walls. Since I am a designer and blogger I like to experiment and try new things, it makes me a better designer. The wallpaper I had on this wall before was a promotional paper that I collaborated with Chasing ... Read More

Friday Favorites Starts With What I Learned From Downsizing
Downsizing has taught me SO much. We went from 3200 square feet to 1100 square feet! That is a BIG difference. I still can't believe ALL the crap I brought with us when we moved. It is embarrassing, for example- 4 sets of dishes, 10 plastic totes full of baby and girl clothes, 8 extra dining chairs that I didn't have a spot for, a lot of seasonal crap, a giant turkey roaster (you know for that BIG thanksgiving I could host in our 10x10 kitchen) a crepe maker, ice-cream maker, a million blankets, sleeping bags for that one time we might actually go camping (never) and a bazillion canning ... 5 House Plants That are Low Maintenance- My Tips on Keeping them Alive
Most of you know we took a month long trip to Utah and California. We left my husband at home, someone has to take care of the house plants! Oh wait, he really didn't even have to do that and it probably would have been better if I didn't ask him too. We lost a few house plants from over-watering...bless his heart, he was just trying to follow instructions. Basically the less you do with house plants the better. Pinterest puts out a forecast of home design trends they predict will be popular for the year. One of the trends they forecasted for 2017 was house plants. "Lush greenery that ...
