I have been blogging for about a year and a half now and really love it. I started blogging when I moved to Connecticut as a way to keep up on my design skills and stay current with what was going on in the design world. Not to mention it has been another form of journaling I didn't consider. I had quit my job as a manager/buyer and designer to stay at home with my kids, I was thrilled to start this new chapter of my life but I also knew that setting goals and accomplishing tangible things contributes to my happiness. So a blog seemed like it would fill that need. Little did I know how busy it ... Read More

Bright White Paint Refresh
Since we have moved away from Utah to Connecticut we go back in the summer for several weeks to visit family and friends. I always get several emails or texts asking when I am coming and if I can schedule time to do some design work. My sister is always one of the firsts to ask and since she is one of my favorite people I make sure to fit her in. Last summer we updated her son's bedroom HERE. This summer she wanted me to help her pick a new paint color for her entire living space. She wanted to change up the blue paint that she had throughout her home and really brighten up the space. Of ... Read More
Kids Bunkbed Shared Room
When I saw Ashlea from This is Mamas Dance sons shared bunk bedroom my jaw dropped! I had to share it with all of you and also for my article in the free online magazine Everything Home. Ashlea and her family live next to a lake and has a coastal cottage feel. She knew she wanted the boys’ room to fit within that aesthetic while still being playful and functional. Ashlea grew up in a large family and loved sharing a room with her sisters. She wanted her boys who are 6 and 8 to have that same experience. Living at the lake gave her the idea of a “bunk room". She wanted it to feel like they were ... Read More
How to pick the right size rug
One question I get asked often by clients is "do you really put a rug over carpet?" My answer is always a resounding yes! It ties the room together so your furniture isn't "floating" in the space. And then the next question is "what size should I do?" I have learned over the years that going bigger the majority of the time is better. A lot of times the price from a 5x8 to an 8x10 jumps up a lot and that is one of the biggest things that keeps people from getting the right size rug. I know I have been in that boat, thinking ok maybe the 5x8 will work when really it needs an 8x10. ... Read More
Backyard Deck Remodel
I am so excited to share our backyard deck remodel with you that we partnered with Raymour and Flanigan on. I shared last week my inspiration photos you can see HERE. My husband actually flew out and looked at homes...alone when we were looking to move from Utah to Connecticut. We had looked at houses online and I knew the ones that I liked from the pictures, but it was still hard to tell exactly what the area was like or even the house. He did a great job of keeping me involved and looking for the best for our families needs and budget. I was working full time as a store buyer and manager ... Read More
Tips on De-cluttering your Home
I went out to dinner with some friends the other night and we were catching up on what we have been up to. One of my friends is moving so she has been de-cluttering and getting rid of things. They moved from Utah when we did and she was shocked with how much stuff they brought with them that they haven't even unboxed or used in over a year. She found a box of clothes a year after living here and didn't even open it, just took it straight to Good Will. She figured if she had not used it or needed them in all that time why would they now. My other friend shared that she read something online ... Read More

Style with Purpose
I am joining The White Buffalo Styling Co, House Seven, My Sweet Savannah and Bliss at Home to share how we Style with Purpose. I am excited to be apart of this ongoing series. I style and design every home with the purpose and try to make it comfortable for those who live in it. We all love to think that everyone we follow on Instagram, see on Pinterest has perfectly staged homes, but that isn't reality. Our homes are not perfect, we have toys, sewing machines out, books upon books stacked in corners, breakfast dishes in the sink while we try to throw together dinner. I had a ... Read More
