We went to Yellowstone National Park the first week in July. It was a Christmas gift from our parents rather than traditional gifts. I am all for this type of gift giving rather than a bunch of toys the kids loose interest in and we don't have the space for. It was very generous. We drove from Salt Lake City Utah to Yellowstone, about a 4 hour drive. My parents had booked a cabin for us to stay in for three nights. I had been before when I was 10 and it was so much fun to go back. I had several people ask for me to share what we did and any tips we have. I hope it is helpful and I hope a ... Read More

Small Space Living Series- 1700 Square Feet Craftsman
Very excited about this Small Space Living Series Tour today! I found this charming craftsman style home featured on Apartment Therapy and had to see more! We won't be seeing inside all the cupboards on this post, but you will still get some great ideas! Her kitchen cabinets are all open so you really can get a feel of what they have! This home was 1620 square feet. They added a studio 4 years after living in the ... Read More
Friday Favorites starts with New Fence and Memorial Day Sales
I didn't want to do an entire blog post all about our New Fence, not sure how many of you are interested! So I am including it on our Friday Favorites along with some major Memorial Day Sales! I wanted to share what our cedar fence looks like now it's up, why we picked this type of fence, where we put it and what we paid. I can not even tell you how much I LOVE this fence. This fence means safety for our wild inquisitive Finn. Also I feel the need to share this. The other night I was driving my daughter home from soccer. Painted Front Door Tips and our new PINK Door
I got an itch or a craving to paint our front door pink! Well actually it has been itching for a long time. But just recently we got new siding and the question came up if we wanted our black shutters put back up on our house. This might not seem like it relates to the front door but it does. I PERSONALLY like the front door and shutters to be the same color. We once had a navy door and navy shutters. Well, if I back up to the start when we bought this house the front door was hunter green with hunter green shutters. We painted the front door the navy and spray painted the shutters. Then ... Rug Options and Where I go for Rugs
I must admit I am kind-of a rug snob. I blame it on my design background and working in a high-end design store. I worked for a design firm for 18 years. I was the store buyer and manager for about 8 of those years. Part of my job was to go to markets and meet with the vendors and manufacturers of the products we were buying. I got to see the process of a sofa made from start to finish, starting with the fabric design process and manufacturing. I also got to see how rugs are made. And since I bought for a high-end store I wouldn't even look at machine made rugs or synthetic materials. Now ... Read More
Spring Home Tour with Video Tour of our 1100 Square foot Cape
Last week I shared a few changes I made to our front room for Spring. Nothing big, just taking away heavy blankets and pillows and adding some flowering plants. Today I wanted to share our kitchen and the little things I changed. Really, when do we stop changing things? For me it is part of tidying up! After dinner dishes are cleaned up, the rearranging starts. It could be putting some fresh clippings in a vase or changing pillows around. It makes the chores and everyday living fun! The other night I had a somewhat tidy house so I took a video of our entire 1100 square foot house showing the ... Read More
How to Make your Bedding Fluffy and our new Bedding
We were overdue for some new bedding. I had a white linen duvet on our bed that Kevin had given to me as a Birthday gift 8 years ago! He knew I really wanted it and that I was nervous about spending a lot of money on bedding. He surprised me with it along with a little scavenger hunt he set up because he was out of town for work. I learned a good lesson from that bedding...and that Kevin is a keeper:)! If you spend the money on quality and timeless bedding you will love it for years and it will last for years. Linen bedding is actually TWICE as durable as cotton bedding! I have had a ... Read More

Really I wish she would just turn the house over to me. It is my FAVORITE home. Modern meets Vintage style or could also fall under Eclectic. The kitchen just pulls at my heart in so many ways. I feel warm, loved, hugged, inspired and all the other adjectives when I am in it. I met Annie from another mutual friend in Connecticut. We all met for lunch and Annie and I hit it off.
