My sister, Mandy, just moved into a new home. You might remember her master bedroom makeover from last week. Today I am sharing her front porch makeover! Sarah's front porch makeover we did back in September, inspired Mandy to paint her screen door and front door, it turned out great! I wanted to help her finish it up and, of course, wanted to share with you how these little changes really complete the look and add curb appeal. Thanks The Home Depot for Sponsoring this post Front Porch Before and After Isn't it such a fun change?? Such a lovely way to greet guests! Her front door ... Read More

If your storm door doesn't match the color of your front door, you may be drawing attention to the wrong thing! Fall Front Porch with New Paint on Front Door
We painted our door a different version of the pink…a little richer, more of a salmon pink. I felt ready for a change, but we still love a pink door, it is fun to be "the house with the pink door". Painting your front door is an easy update, it can be a fun seasonal change and decorating our front porch seasonally is probably one of my favorite things. Why is decorating my porch my favorite thing? Thanks for asking! I got thinking about it after I spotted a 12' skeleton at The Home Depot. At first I walked by it and thought, that is ridiculously large and crazy. Why would you put a huge ... Read More

Our Refinished Oak Floors and Details!
We loved that this 1950's cape had wood floors on the main floor, they were very charming. I didn't really think much about the color of the wood floor because there were bigger things to tackle when we moved in! The bathrooms, kitchen, carpet upstairs, the exterior….a lot needed updating. I was just thankful there was wood! With our addition I thought it would be the perfect time to refinish the oak floors to match the color of the wood we did upstairs, more white-washed. And I do want to mention that I don't think the color of the floors were ugly or wrong. They were just a little too dark ... Read More
How to Pick the Right Size Rug with Guide!
I often get asked how to pick the right size rug for under a dining table, under a bed, for an entry and really any spot! And since we are on the subject, I only believe in one design rule- you must pick the right size rug for your space! Let me show you some of my tips from some past makeovers we did. Bedroom Rugs- Tip- Depending in room size, rug should extend about 2' to ... Read More
Our Brick Wall, PS- we painted it white
We did it. We painted the brick in our kitchen. Our plan the entire time was to paint the brick. That is the reason we put the brick in. We wanted some texture and extra charm. Best part we were able to use the brick that was original to the home. I actually told Kevin I wanted to do brick in the kitchen right when we started the plants for the addition, and little did we know brick would fall into our lap! When we took out the chimney in our kitchen, (it was used for the furnace) we discovered it was an all brick chimney that was in good shape! As they started to remove the chimney, I ... Read More

Front Walkway Update- Concrete Stepping Stones with Grass
Our exterior has gone through some minor and major updates! Sometimes I look at older pictures of the house and think, I can't believe it looked like that! And I knew we could give the exterior some major curb appeal with small and simple changes along the way.
