We went to Yellowstone National Park the first week in July. It was a Christmas gift from our parents rather than traditional gifts. I am all for this type of gift giving rather than a bunch of toys the kids loose interest in and we don't have the space for. It was very generous. We drove from Salt Lake City Utah to Yellowstone, about a 4 hour drive. My parents had booked a cabin for us to stay in for three nights. I had been before when I was 10 and it was so much fun to go back. I had several people ask for me to share what we did and any tips we have. I hope it is helpful and I hope a ... Read More
Small Space Living Series- 1700 Square Feet Craftsman
Very excited about this Small Space Living Series Tour today! I found this charming craftsman style home featured on Apartment Therapy and had to see more! This home belongs to Chelsea Mohrman, hubby and two boys. They actually recently sold this home in the Midwest. Thankfully she had a bunch of photos to share with us. We won't be seeing inside all the cupboards on this post, but you will still get some great ideas! Her kitchen cabinets are all open so you really can get a feel of what they have! This home was 1620 square feet. They added a studio 4 years after living in the ... Read More
House built by Thrifted Decor and Five Tips for Thrifting!
Yes, this home I am about to show you was furnished and accessorized with about 95% thrifted home decor! From second hand shops, antiquing, off the side the road, yard sales, tag sales, Facebook pages you name it! I originally met this client, Amy off of a Facebook post I did when we first moved to Connecticut because I was trying to sell a lot of the extra home decor I didn't need. She came into my house and bought a lot of things, then she said she stalked me on Facebook and found out what I did! She messaged me for a design consultation and I helped pull all of this thrifted decor together ... Read More
Friday Favorites starts with new Shower Curtain
We have been in Yellowstone part of the week and in Utah celebrating the 4th of July with family and friends. Our new shower curtain for our main floor bathroom came in right before we left and I quickly got it up and took some pictures to share. The shower curtain has black in it rather than navy like our previous one. It flows better through the rest of our home since we have gotten rid of the navy and added more black. But oh that old shower curtain was a favorite from all of you, it got the most questions than any other thing in our house! Sadly it is discontinued. One reader knew I have ... Read More
Stuffed Sweet Peppers Appetizer- Everyone will LOVE!
We had friends over for dinner a couple weeks ago. And my friend Sarah, showed up with an appetizer that everyone went crazy for and loved! If Kevin and Ella will eat it then I know it is a hit! So I had to get the recipe. It is one of those recipes that once you read this blog post you won't be back to read it again. Make it once and you won't forget it. I shared the recipe over on Instagram stories that night my friend brought it to our dinner. And the messages haven't stoped coming in "what was that recipe again?" So I thought stuffed peppers needed a blog post. Next I made the ... Read More
Friday Favorites starts with Herb Garden Window Box
One of my favorite things about our kitchen is the window right above the sink. We have hedges separating the neighbors house rather than a fence. You can see the tips of the hedges from the window and it reminds me of a window box. I thought, oh why not add a window box to our kitchen window?! Rather than flowers we created a herb window box. And it brings me so much joy! I can simply reach my hand outside the window and grab some cilantro! I thought I would share our new kitchen herb window box for Friday Favorites and a couple of weekend sales! As I was putting together our ... Read More
New Unique Wall Sconce and Painted Kitchen Door
This post is sponsored by eBay Accent Lighting is probably one of the most important things to my personal design style. Wall sconces, lamps, candles, twinkle lights are all ways to create a cozy, warm feeling. Living Plants and the right paint color are also at the top of my design essentials too. I found the COOLEST wall sconce EVER from eBay. When I found it I knew exactly where I wanted to put it. And then that lead to wanting to paint our interior kitchen door. I read a blog post recently from someone I admire. She photographed a friend's home who lives in France and she pointed out ... Read More
Our new Garden and Tips to keep Animals Out
This post is a sponsored post We have a garden! Three years in this house and this is our first garden in Connecticut. At our previous home in Utah we made garden tables for tomatoes. It was a big fail. The bottom of the tables fell out once the tomato plants got bigger, leaving us with a big pile of dirt. It was a great concept with the intention of keeping animals out of our garden and not eating all the juicy tomatoes. After that experience we were jaded and felt that gardens were a big waste. This is my inner monologue- "I am an avid farmers market goer, I can get garden ... Read More
Window Boxes and Curb Appeal
Curb Appeal was something our home was lacking when we bought it three years ago. Slowly we have made some minor changes and recently some major changes with new siding. But honestly every time we made a change, no matter if it was pulling out some weeds or adding rocks to our walk-up. It's was an effort that doesn't go un-noticed. Little changes to the exterior go a long way. We were out working on our front yard and I was adding some flowers to our window boxes and a woman walked by and called out "looks great!" It was so nice of her! It really wasn't complete, but her just encouraging the ... Read More
Friday Favorites starts with Summer and Affordable Home Decor
Our kids had their last day of school yesterday! They each had a friend over and played outside all day. Loving our play-set and water under the trampoline. It is always a bitter-sweet day. Ella was too excited to be sad, but Lola said she was sad because she would miss school and her friends. Our kids go back to school the last week in August. I know this summer will fly by for us. We are headed to Yellow Stone National Park soon and a trip to Utah to see family and friends. What summer plans do you have? I will make this Friday Favorites quick! But if you have noticed with me, no blog post ... Read More
