We got the girls a new dresser. Really because I wanted to give Rachel a dresser for her master bedroom and I thought the girls dresser would look great in her master. Then I could buy the girls a white washed wood one I have had my eye on for awhile. I had ordered the same dresser for the teen boys bedroom (Luke) and fell in love with it. For two reasons #1- we did not have to assemble the dresser (anyone want to give-up right when they see they have to assemble a dresser???) #2- the wood finish was gorgeous! I decided to round-up some of my favorite dressers and where I go to find ... Read More
Patricks Dormer Bedroom Reveal!
Did you catch my last blog post? We have been working on Patricks (a cutie 9 year old boy) bedroom! If you have been following along you know that we recently made-over Lukes bedroom (Patricks brother). Lukes mom had submitted Lukes room for a local makeover Kevin and I were giving-away, we ended up selecting Lukes bedroom, and we couldn't leave Patricks bedroom alone! We wanted to makeover his bedroom too. Below is where we last left you on the bedroom status- Kevin and I went away for the weekend to New York (blog post coming on that). But before we left we spent about 4ish hours ... Read More
3 Bedroom Design Plans- Master, Little Girls Room and Boys Room
I am doing three bedroom makeovers this month! And one next month. I am very excited. Making a fluffy cozy bed is one of my favorite things to do. I thought I would share the before of each room and my design plan. I ALWAYS do a design plan before I start any project. It helps me to visualize the end result. And not waste anytime on returning things because they didn't look good together. If you remember Lukes Bedroom that we recently made over. And then we did Lukes mom, Rachels kitchen shelves. Well, we couldn't stop just there. We are now giving Patrick the younger brother a ... Read More
Diffuser Round-Up and Why I ditched Candles
Hi, my name is Brooke, and I am a recovering candle addict. I loved the feeling of HYGGE they'd lend to my home. I always sort of knew that they were toxic, but I would allow myself the indulgence. Imagine my excitement when I discovered that I can get the EXACT same cozy, warm atmosphere with a diffuser! I started Essential Oils as a hope that they would help my daughter with her nervousness at night. We were desperate for a change, Kevin and I were out of ideas. She really was struggling to relax enough and being able to calm herself to go to bed. It was hard on her and our ... Read More
How Design Style and Fashion Style Meet- 10 Bloggers Weigh In
When the weather changes, I always reassess my wardrobe for the new season. I have limited space, so I I have to be thoughtful about what I carry in my closet. I have written about the way I manage my clothes and how I systematically clear out what I am no longer wearing in this post. As I was sifting through what I want to keep and what I want to donate to make room for cozier sweaters and wintry colors, I began to notice a theme-- I tend to like solid basics and fun pops of pattern. I am not a fashion blogger, but I DO buy clothes and dress myself. I know what I like to ... Read More
Houseplant Swag
I don't think I have ever mentioned it here before, but I do a thing. It is called Water Wednesday! Or sometimes it gets moved to Thirsty Thursday. Basically it is a really good way to remember to check on your plants and water them. Some plants do not need to be watered every Wednesday. Like a snake plant only needs to be watered a couple times a month or same with succulents! But it reminds us to go and talk to your plants, give them some love. Do they like the spot you put them? Do you see some new growth?? And obviously ever water Wednesday I want to wear a plant shirt! Ha. Not even ... Read More
2019 Fall Home Decor Trends vs Fall Fashion Trends
It all started with pumpkins and I had ordered a few fall shirts to try a week ago and they came in. Annnnnd I love them. I will say at first glance they were a no. But once I tried them on they felt uber cozy. It got me thinking how fall fashion trends seem pretty on-trend with home decor trends. I found an article from Elle Decor Magazine with the Top Fall Trends for 2019. I thought it would be fun to find something similar in Home Decor that is a must-have for Fall! While I will never dress this high-fashion and be on-trend with the fashion scene. We can all take bits and ... Read More
My Major Kitchen and Bathroom Design Inspiration- Remodel
We are hopefully getting closer to our project getting started. But there are just a lot of steps involved in a remodel (especially if you live in a flood zone). We had our contractor come over and give us a bid, waiting on one more bid. We then have to submit the bids to the town for permits. Then hopefully they can start!!! We cannot wait to see workers here everyday expanding our kitchen and adding a master bathroom!!! I put together a design inspiration board so I personally can remember everything that has been on my wish list! It is hard to remember. Highly recommend going through ... Read More
30 Days to a Toxin-Free Life!
Swap out harsh, chemical-laden products with these solutions made with naturally derived ingredients. Many of the personal care products you use daily could also have hidden chemicals or harsh dyes and fragrances. Read the labels on everything to see where you can make improvements. I personally use Think Dirty App to check all of my products or I check them on EWG. Tip- I use google to search for items I want to check on EWG (their website can be tricky) just type in google "top dish soap on EWG"! Most of Young Livings Products aren't on EWG, so I just read the ... Read More
Teenager Boys Room Makeover- Grown-Up Style
On Monday we shared that we had picked a winner of our local makeover giveaway. Kevin and I decided to give Luke, an awesome teenager boy (13) a much needed room makeover. Luke's mom had written us an email telling us how deserving Luke was of a room makeover (after we had asked for submissions to our blog subscribers). His brother has special needs and often gets the most attention and time from his parents. Luke loves his brother and is very patient (I saw it with my own eyes). They are an amazing family. From Rachel (Lukes mom) - "Luke could absolutely use a “lift”. Our younger son Patrick ... Read More
