When we moved in these cabinets were a dark brown, not my favorite. We knew that there weren't many options for cabinet placement so we opted to just have the existing cabinets refaced and new doors put on. The reason for refacing rather than painting was the style needed to be updated. New molding, larger doors etc. What we did not do and should have done when we remodeled the kitchen was paint the inside of the cabinets. 3 years later it still felt unfinished. So for my Mother's Day gift to myself I started with one cabinet and bought all of the organizing things to really maximize this ... Read More
How to Mix Metals in the Kitchen and our Kitchen Faucet
This post is sponsored by Delta Faucet A common question I am always being asked is, "How do I mix metals in the kitchen?" We partnered with Delta Faucet to switch out our old kitchen faucet for one with a lifetime guarantee. While I was selecting the finish for our new faucet I began to think about why I chose our original faucet metal finish in the first place. There is a simple formula I follow and I am sharing it today! How I go about mixing metals. I typically like to mix two to three different metals in my kitchen. There is always a main metal that you have to ... Read More
STALL IKEA HACK- Small Space Solution in our Kitchen
Very excited to share this STALL IKEA Hack with you! It turned out so much better than I thought it would and it is an awesome storage solution for any small spaces. After my shopping trip to IKEA I got home and my wheels were spinning with ideas on better ways to organize and utilize our small space. Our kitchen is lacking in a pantry. I honestly don't miss it. We really don't eat a lot of "pantry food" most of our food comes from the fridge. We do have the cans, mac n' cheese and pasta for the kids and I keep a lot of that in a cupboard in our basement. But this little STALL chest allows us ... Read More
Friday Favorites starts with Cutting Boards
Friends. Friends and Cutting Boards. That sounds like I am going to say all the ways friends are like cutting boards. No. Just my friends visited last week for one day, really like 6 hours. My friends appreciate the little details in my home and tell me! I do the same for them. It gave me a boost to have them visit and also left me missing them and a little sad. I do have friends in CT but I feel like the friends I have here already have their really good friends they have known forever and family close. Most people in our area grew up here and know everyone. I remember when we moved to CT ... Read More
No Sew Pillows- Easy DIY
*Post contains affilate links I came up with an EASY way to make pillow covers that are No-Sew! I actually do know how to sew and I do have a sewing machine. But sometimes you don't want to get out the sewing machine, but you do want to make a quick pillow. Or maybe you find cloth napkins that you love the fabric so much you want it for pillows. This was the case with my new lemon napkins, they needed to be summer pillows. Perfect match. All you need for No-Sew Pillows- Eyelet Snap Punch ( I use this all the time for cards and tags) 8 Eyelets (in the color to match your fabric, ... Read More
Take Home Designer Series- New England Kitchen Tour of a Dietitian and her Paleo Granola
Do you remember the show "Take Home Chef"? It was on TLC. The cutie pie Curtis Stone would approach people in the grocery store and offer to go to their home and cook them a meal. I LOVED that show. My favorite part, besides watching Curtis Stone :) was seeing inside everyones kitchen. I thought it was fascinating to see the space that people spend so much of their time in. That is what got me to go to the grocery store after I had my first baby, hoping to run into Curtis Stone. So this is my version, where I go into charming New England Homes and share pictures of their kitchens. And only ... Read More
Kitchen Art- 10 Ideas for Art in the Kitchen
It's that time of the month. That time I want to change something. Oh did you think I was talking about something else?:) Nope not that kind of blog. I am pretty sure you have all seen what I have above our kitchen banquette. The chalkboard. When I first started sharing my home over on Instagram I was asked several times a day where someone could find my chalkboard. My fingers started to automatically type "it was a broken mirror that I painted with chalkboard paint" like a broken record. While I do still love that chalkboard and plan on keeping it. I am itching for a change in that ... Read More
Built-in Kitchen Banquette Reveal
I am so excited to share our FINISHED Built-in Banquette with you! I shared back on THIS post in January that we really wanted to add a built-in banquette to our tiny kitchen. And I have talked about this banquette a lot since then, can you tell how excited I am about it?! If you have read my blog before this post you already know that we had a cozy little settee in our kitchen that we were using as a banquette. I was REALLY sad to see that settee go. It was comfortable and good looking settee and held a lot of memories. I was willing to part with it to gain some extra seating and ... Read More
New Roman Shades in the Kitchen
When we moved into our house two and a half years ago we remodeled the kitchen a few months after moving in. The kitchen was so depressing to me. I hated being in it. It just felt dark and heavy. We had put off remodeling the kitchen right away because we thought we might do an addition to the kitchen. But we decided to put off the addition and reface the kitchen cabinets and get new appliances and tile. The finishing details were the window treatments. I knew I wanted to do roman shades but just didn't know where anyone local to make Roman Shades that were inside mount. I happened to be ... Read More
