For those who have been following since the beginning, you know that one of the first major projects we undertook after moving into our 1100 square foot cape in Connecticut was to make over our kitchen. We wanted it to be functional for my family and fun. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it! The kitchen is the heart of the home, where we create some of the most meaningful and lasting memories. Whether it is cooking together, sharing a meal, or doing art projects and homework, the kitchen seems to be the common backdrop.
Kitchen makeovers do not need to be major to have an impact. One of my favorite sayings in “better than before” and this definitely can be applied to your kitchen project! Don’t be intimidated by the size of the project, just start somewhere.
In this installment of My Before and After series, I am sharing 27 Kitchen Makeovers. Some are overhauls and some are simply the result of some paint and elbow grease. These images were all shared with the Nesting With Grace Facebook Group as part of Transformation Tuesday. For those who have blogs or Instagram accounts, I have provided links, so please go check them out for more details on their makeovers. Some of these are professional designers, but many are just people striving to make their homes a warm and inviting place for those that live there. Isn’t that awesome?!
I love to see the effort people put into their homes. You are my people! I hope that you feel as inspired as I do to make your heart of the home a lovely place that you enjoy.
For more information about our facebook group, follow this link. It is a perk I offer to my email subscribers and has grown into such a positive and inspiring community. The page is free from self-promotion and is focused on design ideas, support and advice from fellow “Nesters.” I go “live” and tackle your design dilemmas a couple times a month and would love to connect with you on that platform as well.
#1- Kitchen Makeover- Mccormick’s
First up I wanted to share my good friends kitchen makeover they did last year. I did help them with a couple ideas and they did such a great job at completing it! These friends are the same friends that I did the Fireplace Makeover and recently decorated it for fall HERE. And I am planning on doing their master bedroom next! They live in a cape, like I do, that is about 1300 square feet. The kitchen before had a wall separating the kitchen and the dining room. They took down the wall separating the rooms and made it one large kitchen! The large island has been a huge addition for them and just opening up the space has done wonders for them for hosting larger parties.I styled their kitchen and took pictures the other day to share with you! Check out the before and after below….
#2 Kitchen Makeover- Rachel Tomsick-
This is the same house with the pantry I recently made over while I was in Utah! Rachel is one of my best friends and also does a lot of the behind the scenes on this blog. She is very talented and handy with house projects.
Here is a picture of her pantry makeover as a refresh-

Oh my goodness, this is the best post ever. As someone who is considering downsizing and might have to purchase a smaller fixer upper – so many great ideas. It really helps to see all the different possibilities. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing so many different kitchen ideas. I’ve been wanting to paint my kitchen cabinets myself but afraid of the large task. Seeing all these makeovers has me closer to the edge of putting my brush in the paint.
Thank you so much for including mine! It was a labor of love and so worth the wait 💗
