When we moved from Utah to Connecticut we had to sell and giveaway A LOT of our furniture and accessories. Our new home in Connecticut is about half the size that it was in Utah, we had a lot of things we were not going to have room for. I was able to sell several pieces with the home. There were extra things that I knew had value and I would have to replace like sofa's, dining table and beds so I wanted to make some money off of them. I used to be a store buyer and manger of a store in Utah, clients would often ask how much to sell used pieces for when they were buying new things. I thought I ... Read More
Favorite Boys Bedroom with My Sweet Savannah
Melaine from My Sweet Savannah is an experienced, long time blogger that I love to follow and get inspired from. Her sons room is so timeless and full of the best ideas, I had to share it with all of you. I featured it on my section Kids Spaces for Everything Home Magazine. I drilled Melaine with questions on her 13 year old sons bedroom. He had a western themed bedroom and it was time for a change. Melaine knew that she didn’t want to do a “theme” she wanted to do something that would take him through high school. His bed and dresser were the starting point and it just took off from ... Tips For Keeping Hydrangeas Alive
I shared on my Instagram the other day my frustration with my recent hydrangea purchases. I bought one batch at Trader Joe's and they died about two days later. I had family coming into town and my daughters baptism, so I went back and bought some more. One of the hydrangea heads died the next day and the others followed a day later. I was mad and so bugged! So I aired my frustration and received so many good tips, I had to give it another try and of coarse share with you. Trader Joes is close to my house and I know they always have my favorites, hydrangeas for a good price. BUT I ... Read More
Kids Space- Boys Collected Bedroom
My sister and I were born in the same year, can you believe my poor Mom?! For about three weeks we are the same age, Irish Twins we are. We didn't always get a long growing up, now we are best friends, I am pretty blessed by her. When I was in Utah in December she wanted to work on her son's bedroom and move him to his own bedroom. He is a little stud who is 11 years old. He needed his own space where he didn't have his little brothers going through his things. So before his Birthday we got to work, my sister actually did the manual labor and I went shopping and put it all together to make his ... Read More
DIY Dream Catchers
I did a Birthday party at our home for our 8 year old Ella. I had looked into going somewhere, because 10 little girls in a 1200 square foot house seemed a bit tight. Then I thought I should not let the size of our home hold us back from enjoying it and doing what she wanted to do. Ella wanted to have a "late night". So we invited some friends over and made dream catchers, I fed them french toast for dinner with fruit and sausage, we watched the movie Pan (which is similar to Peter Pan, we all loved it) then played our favorite birthday game "who knows Ella best" you can find ... Easy Overnight French Toast
We have had family staying with us for the past 5 days. We absolutely love visitors. This time we had 6 guests staying with us. I like to make a yummy breakfast for everyone. Then we end up eating lunch and dinner out when we are sightseeing. This is one of my favorite breakfasts to make for a lot of people. You can make it the night before then pop it in the oven right when you wake up to let bake for an hour. There is nothing better than the smell of cinnamon bread to wake up to! I buy cinnamon bread from a local bakery. This time when I made it they only had one loaf of cinnamon bread ... Read More
Great to be Eight
I can't believe that our oldest is Eight! Ella is such and a neat little person. We love watching her grow, learn and experience new things. Ella is outgoing, a learner, quick and sharp as a tack, loving, thoughtful, empathetic, a daddy's girl and everything good. Also she is a lot like me, and if you have a child like you, you know how difficult that can be at times. I read a quote "Be the person you want your children to be." Oh no, she seems to have taken the parts of me that I don't want her to have. All I can do is keep trying and hope that I can rub off some ... Read More
Touches of Gold and Favorite Spray Paint
I have really been into the touches of gold this past year. We have a 1950's cape that has all gold knobs and hinges. I think that goes to show that gold is timeless, just like white. I like to mix gold with silver and pewter. One of my first attempts with gold spray paint was painting my light covers. I found some at home depot already gold and they were a lot more pricey than the plastic white ones. I didn't have much to loose so I tried to spray paint them gold. This was my first attempt at spray painting them. I loved the look for the shiny gold. BUT...it scratched and looked crappy ... Read More
Top Questions Asked On Instagram
I thought I would compile all of the answers to the Top Questions I get asked on my Instagram. I love to share what I find and I take it as a compliment when you want to know where I find the things in our home or are inspired by something that I shared. My favorite is when people tag me in photos on Instagram showing me something they did or tried because of something I posted. Some of the items I get questions on are pieces that are discontinued so I have come up with similar items. My ottoman is one of my favorite pieces and I have had it for over 5 years. I think the reason I have ... Read More
Kids Space with Most Lovely Things
I met Annie from Most Lovely Things Blog through another friend that I met on Instagram and realized that we all lived by each other. We met up for lunch and all got along so well. Annie and I bonded and she invited me (maybe thorough my suggestion) to her home for lunch. Let me tell it was SUCH a treat to see her home and spend the afternoon with her. Right from the start I was blown away by her talent, I loved her front porch so much. The black door and all white, is so classic. Annie has an older home too, built in the 1900's and is about 30 minutes from mine and it is beyond ... Read More
