Spring is my favorite season. I love when I can clip fresh blooms from the yard and easily brighten my home, especially my living room. When Spring rolls around I find myself wanting to declutter and change things up in my home. I am constantly moving things around. I recently got a gorgeous new piece of art from the lovely Deann Designs, who has been featured in Country Living amongst many other venues. Getting something new always spurs on a little re-decorating. Updating your home with the seasons doesn’t have to cost a lot of money, simple changes can go a long way.
Deann Designs has a new floral collection, every piece is stunning. She has named all of her art in such clever fun ways, this one is called “You see seeds, I see blooms” isn’t that the sweetest name? I loved this piece because of the simplicity and the fact that it could easily go with so many seasons. We don’t have a fireplace and this sideboard acts as a mantel in the living room, the focal point. I like to change it up with the seasons and Holidays. Another thing I look for when selecting art is if it could be moved into other areas of my home, when I switch things up. And it really goes nicely in my bedroom too….
See? Doesn’t it look great off of my dark walls? You can see why I love this painting so much!
Finn likes it in my room:) He can see it when he wakes up in the morning. (Read more about our little bassinet HERE).
But for now it is staying in our living room. I changed up the accessories on my sideboard after I hung the art. I kept everything pretty simple to not distract from the art. My lamps stayed the same, one reason why I picked white lamps with a neutral shade because they look great with everything.
I purchased a lot of old used books from Good Will for less than a $1 each. I tore the covers off to make a cohesive feel and to add layers.
My white pitchers are my favorite accessories, they make a statement when grouped together but they don’t distract from other things around them. I added in some glass bottles that I took the labels off of a Lemonade bottle. The entire display hardly cost much at all. You can find white pottery at second hand stores too. The key is the layers and balancing out both sides of your display.
I love the touches of blue in the art, it ties in nicely with the rug in my living room with our being too matchy. You can find my exact rug HERE.
This is our living room, we spend a lot of time in here and it is the first thing people see when they walk into our home. I thought I would share some updated pictures and some spring changes I made.
I have had this mini fiddle fig plant for close to 9 months now, it is such a hearty little guy. It only cost me $20, money well spent for something so fresh and bright. I water it once a week and never let it sit in water. Just give it a good soak in the sink and it is good to go.
We have had this sofa since we moved into this house, so for about a year and a half. I am always moving my pillows around. In the spring and summer I like to simplify the pillows, right now I just have two on the sofa and a light cream throw. It is my favorite sofa I have owned. It holds it shape so well, I am not constantly fluffing the pillows. You can find a sofa like mine HERE.
I have the white pottery in our bookcase and also did the same thing to more books. Although I have a lot in these bookcases, it doesn’t feel cluttered with the cohesive feel of the white and the books. I moved my gold typewriter to our built in bookcases, you can read the story behind my typewriter HERE. You can find my animal art HERE.
We went on a walk the other day and couldn’t help but clip some of these pink blossoms. You can find my exact clock HERE.
I changed the art up my stairs. I added the pink print from Katherine Jury. The painting is a picture that I took of my girls and husband at the zoo. I had Mike Warren paint it for a Christmas gift to my hubby, it is my favorite painting.
Pop over to Deann Designs to see her gorgeous paintings. She has original art for sale as well as gallery wrapped prints like mine. Mine is 36″x36″. Happy Spring to you!
Love the painting in both rooms, guess you can move it as the seasons change. I have the same PB smocked panels , wondering if you have one or two in each window?
thanks! they are from villa home, I have one on each window.
Loved seeing your beautiful baby. My youngest of 3 just turned 5 and you forget how quickly that they were once that small. Your living room is beautiful, I liken it to eye candy, so much to see and enjoy! Just wait until bright plastic toys invade, lol.
