I am always looking for great gifts to have on-hand. The biggest stress to me is having to rush out the night before a party and grab a hostess gift. Or forgetting to get something for the piano teacher, the bus driver, the dance teacher, school teacher, you name it, I have forgotten and it is a mad dash to find something. These are all such great gifts that ANY woman would love. So mark it on your to-do list and grab it when you are out or better yet order it online now while you are thinking about it and thank me later! Book Club- How To Start Your Own
I was a loyal member of a book club in Utah with a big group of friends for about four years. I met new friends and became closer to old friends, I loved that book club. When I moved to Connecticut I brought up the idea of starting a book club to four friends and they all told me they do not read or they were already in a group. So I dropped the idea. Until recently when I was working on a clients home and we realized we knew a couple of the same people. I brought up the idea of book club...again, I just couldn't let it die for me in Connecticut. Luckily they were all in! I recently ... Read More
Eclectic Fall Home Tour
Hello! Welcome to my Eclectic Fall Home Tour. I am joining Marty from A Stroll Thru Life and 30 other bloggers to share our Fall Homes this week. I love home tours, it is so fun to be exposed to new bloggers and get ideas on how to decorate our homes with the change of the seasons. For those that are new to my blog, welcome! We are a family of 5 living in Connecticut and have been for almost two years. We live in an 1100 square foot cape style home. Our home is about 800 meters to the beach and about an hour into New York City. We love our location and all that we have been exposed to. Fall ... Read More
DIY Bohemian Pillow
With summer in full swing I am always looking for DIY projects that are quick and have immediate results. I made a pillow that requires no sewing and is something even kids could do! It is a fun, easy DIY project that can be done in less than 20 minutes. This will also only cost you less than $12. All you need is a 2x3 rag rug, yarn, batting and a sewing needle and you can complete this project. I found this rug at my local Home Goods store for $9. I have always loved these bohemian looking rag rugs. They just don't really hold up too well in major traffic areas. I thought how great ... Read More
Favorite Birth Announcement
With Instagram and Facebook it made me question if birth announcements are a thing of the past? Like writing letters. Everyone knows I had my baby and with the amount I post on my Nesting with Grace Instagram and my personal Instagram. Everyone gets it, Brooke had a baby. But there is something about getting an actual birth announcement in the mail. I feel it is a celebratory occasion, like a wedding. We need to have something printed and documented. I personally love to see as many pictures as possible on a birth announcement and Christmas card for that matter. It might be that we live so far ... Read More
Summer Beach Tips and Sandcastles
We live less than a mile to the beach, one of the reasons why we chose to live where we live and in a smaller Cape style home. We recently got the nicest beach kit from Beachmate and we have been dying to use it. The weather has been so weird, really rainy it seems and colder than normal. Finally we had a nice night and decided to go test out our new beach kit. It was a little too cold to swim and it was after dinner, but I know my five year old would have swam if we let her. It was a great night to play in the sand and have ice-cream cones. Now that we are beach bums, we have ... Read More
Living Room Spring Update and Deann Art
Spring is my favorite season. I love when I can clip fresh blooms from the yard and easily brighten my home, especially my living room. When Spring rolls around I find myself wanting to declutter and change things up in my home. I am constantly moving things around. I recently got a gorgeous new piece of art from the lovely Deann Designs, who has been featured in Country Living amongst many other venues. Getting something new always spurs on a little re-decorating. Updating your home with the seasons doesn't have to cost a lot of money, simple changes can go a long way. Deann Designs ... Read More
Homemade Bread and my Mom
"They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad an sincere hearts." Acts 2:46 My mom has been on a mission to accomplish that exact scripture. She found a homemade bread recipe that she loved and made a goal to bake one loaf of bread a day and give it to someone. That alone shows how thoughtful, empathetic, loving and Christ-like she is. She says "nothing is better than getting a loaf of warm homemade bread." I couldn't agree with her more. Think of the last time someone made you homemade bread? I can remember one of my best friends, Rachel baking a fresh loaf of french ... Read More
Great to be Eight
I can't believe that our oldest is Eight! Ella is such and a neat little person. We love watching her grow, learn and experience new things. Ella is outgoing, a learner, quick and sharp as a tack, loving, thoughtful, empathetic, a daddy's girl and everything good. Also she is a lot like me, and if you have a child like you, you know how difficult that can be at times. I read a quote "Be the person you want your children to be." Oh no, she seems to have taken the parts of me that I don't want her to have. All I can do is keep trying and hope that I can rub off some ... Read More
Top Questions Asked On Instagram
I thought I would compile all of the answers to the Top Questions I get asked on my Instagram. I love to share what I find and I take it as a compliment when you want to know where I find the things in our home or are inspired by something that I shared. My favorite is when people tag me in photos on Instagram showing me something they did or tried because of something I posted. Some of the items I get questions on are pieces that are discontinued so I have come up with similar items. My ottoman is one of my favorite pieces and I have had it for over 5 years. I think the reason I have ... Read More
