Our Vintage Inspired Christmas Tree and Stockings
Our front room was sure fun to decorate this year with my new toy….our electric fireplace. Yes, it is totally a toy to me. I have loved decorating it. And as soon as we hung the mantel I was ready to hang our Christmas stockings even though it was October! We were still able to fit our Christmas Tree in our front room, right next to our fireplace. I have to say it is just the coziest room. Already thinking it will make me sad taking down the Christmas decor because I love the hygee feeling in this room. I am joining Ella Claire Inspired and 15 bloggers to share our Christmas Trees and ... Read More

Favorite Home Purchases- Basically my Wedding Registry
Do you ever stop and appreciate little things that you have? I did the other day. I was opening the door to our front hall closet and I thought I am SO happy we changed out all our door knobs. It was a purchase that maybe wasn't the most-fun to make, but it saves us so much frustration. The doorknob used to fall off every other day and then we would have to go and find a tool to get it back on and even be able to open the door. I should have done it a long time ago. It got me thinking what else did I put-off buying but now am so happy we did! I asked Kevin what he thought and shared his idea ... Read More
Friday Favorites starts with new Shower Curtain
We have been in Yellowstone part of the week and in Utah celebrating the 4th of July with family and friends. Our new shower curtain for our main floor bathroom came in right before we left and I quickly got it up and took some pictures to share. The shower curtain has black in it rather than navy like our previous one. It flows better through the rest of our home since we have gotten rid of the navy and added more black. But oh that old shower curtain was a favorite from all of you, it got the most questions than any other thing in our house! Sadly it is discontinued. One reader knew I have ... Read More
Our new Garden and Tips to keep Animals Out
This post is a sponsored post We have a garden! Three years in this house and this is our first garden in Connecticut. At our previous home in Utah we made garden tables for tomatoes. It was a big fail. The bottom of the tables fell out once the tomato plants got bigger, leaving us with a big pile of dirt. It was a great concept with the intention of keeping animals out of our garden and not eating all the juicy tomatoes. After that experience we were jaded and felt that gardens were a big waste. This is my inner monologue- "I am an avid farmers market goer, I can get garden ... Read More
$200 Black Shed Exterior Makeover
Kevin had a couple days off this week, the kids are still in school so we couldn't go anywhere fun. In the back of my mind was a FUN project. Always. A little shed makeover! And the way Kevin works it took a day, it would have been less if we didn't have kids and other things going on. I took a poll on Instagram asking what color we should paint the shed, either black or white. The entire time I had wanted to do black. But then I thought....hmmmm maybe white would be better to match our house. You want to know what everyone voted for?? It was basically SPLIT in half! And I just want to preface ... Read More

Backyard Patio- Outdoor Furniture for Small Spaces
I recently helped some friends of mine (Jess and Scott) who live around the corner from us with picking furniture for their backyard. They have a really nice cape similar to ours, but it has a little addition on the back, thus leaving their backyard patio area on the smaller side. When you look at the before photos you wouldn't think you would be able to fit much but after measuring and drawing it out we were able to create a nice cozy seating area with a fire pit! I made a quick design board for them, I don't like to suggest furniture unless a design board is created. And I don't think anyone ... Read More
