I am so excited to share that I have teamed up with Lowe's to help one homeowner in my home town transform a room in their home and it could be YOU! Yes, that is right...I will help one homeowner transform an area that needs some updates in their home. I am thrilled to be apart of this great makeover just in time for the Holidays! I cant think of a better time to focus on getting our homes ready for family and friends to gather in. I am a BIG believer that your surroundings really influence your behavior and attitude. Helping people with their homes gives me such joy, because I know the ... Read More
Bar Cart and Serving Station
My love for tea and bar carts is deep. I love to look at how others style their carts and I think I could style my tea cart every day and it would never get old. Straws, glass bottles, plates, cups, fruit, flowers are the recipe for a perfectly styled tea cart. They are so great to have for parties or just a charming dinner with friends. These are my favorite pictures of tea carts and bar carts that I have collected over the years. This is my gold tea cart and how I styled it in our old home. You can find my cart HERE. (I found my glass drinks at Whole Foods, they look fun to keep out ... Read More
Watermelon Cake for National Watermelon Day
Did you know that today, August 3rd is National Watermelon Day? I have had THIS Watermelon Cake Recipe pined for a long time on Pinterest. I have thought about making it so many times, specifically for one of my daughters birthday, but they requested a real cake rather than watermelon (weird!). I have a calendar that I got free in the mail and it has all of the made-up Holidays listed. Like national doughnut day, sibling day, root beer float day (which is actually this Friday 8-5). I noticed that August 3rd was national watermelon day. What a perfect excuse to try this cake! So here is our ... Read More
Kids Space Boys Americana Room
Ashley from House of Five recently made over her sons bedroom, and it stopped me in my tracks. I had to ask her to share it with us! I asked Ashley how she came up with the design idea for this darling "Americana" themed bedroom. She said that her husband is a prior service Marine and is currently enlisted in the Army National Guard. He has been in the military as long as she has known him and they have gone through several deployments. They are a military family through and through. When they found out that their second child would be a boy Ashley knew she wanted an "Americana" themed room to ... Read More
Easy DIY Hardware Updates
I am slightly obsessed with drawer knobs, pulls and hardware. Whenever I go to Anthropologie I normally walk directly to the bin of hardware. Hardware can change the look of a piece. A mainstream chest can go from something that you see everywhere to looking like a vintage collected piece. I looked around my house and noticed a trend, almost every piece I own has new hardware added to it. See what I mean... I found that little white cabinet in the bathroom storage section at Home Goods, I think it was maybe $70. I took off the white knob that matched the white wood and replaced it with ... Read More
Banquette Style Seating in a Small Space
If this banquette could talk. Oh the hours that have been spent here...my husband watching me cook me watching my husband cook dinner. When we have guests come and stay with us they could tell you the amount of time we spend in this little 10'x13' space talking late into the night and snacking. If it was all wood chairs I don't think we would spend as much time here. The settee makes for a great gathering space and also feels like banquette seating. I would do this 100 times over. When people ask me my favorite part of our home I always say the kitchen. It has not always been my favorite. When ... Read More
DIY Glass Terrarium
Any chance I get to go to my friend Annie's home I take it, or ask for it rather! Her home was the perfect backdrop for these glass terrariums that we wanted to make. I knew that she would also have great ideas and give me reassurance that our terrariums were up to par since she writes a blog too, Most Lovely Things and has an amazing sense of style. She welcomed us with a little greeting on her front door that she wrote with a pen like THIS. We headed right to her backyard to get working on our glass terrariums. My girls were very excited for this project. We have been ... Read More
DIY Bohemian Pillow
With summer in full swing I am always looking for DIY projects that are quick and have immediate results. I made a pillow that requires no sewing and is something even kids could do! It is a fun, easy DIY project that can be done in less than 20 minutes. This will also only cost you less than $12. All you need is a 2x3 rag rug, yarn, batting and a sewing needle and you can complete this project. I found this rug at my local Home Goods store for $9. I have always loved these bohemian looking rag rugs. They just don't really hold up too well in major traffic areas. I thought how great ... Read More
Kids Bunkbed Shared Room
When I saw Ashlea from This is Mamas Dance sons shared bunk bedroom my jaw dropped! I had to share it with all of you and also for my article in the free online magazine Everything Home. Ashlea and her family live next to a lake and has a coastal cottage feel. She knew she wanted the boys’ room to fit within that aesthetic while still being playful and functional. Ashlea grew up in a large family and loved sharing a room with her sisters. She wanted her boys who are 6 and 8 to have that same experience. Living at the lake gave her the idea of a “bunk room". She wanted it to feel like they were ... Read More
