5 Unexpected Places for Curtains- Add Privacy, Coziness, and Texture

Curtain panels can add texture, coziness, offer privacy and hide areas you don’t want on display. Sharing 5 unique areas we added curtain panels in our home below!

1- Curtain Instead of a Door

I wanted to add a curtain to this small pantry/drink room to soften the edges and create more of a feeling of a “room”. Love how it turned out! This also works great for a closet, or any space you want to separate.

I used this curtain rod (I also use this curtain rod a lot, but chose a more decorative look for in here) and hung it 10″ off of the door so the curtains would not block the entrance. The gingham curtain panels are just the cutest, love how the gingham is larger on the edges, they also come in a green color. Love the gold color with paint color, Leap of Faith from Benjamin Moore.

2- Curtains to Hide Fridge

I used the same gingham curtain panel (I cut it and hemmed it) to hide the drink fridge, not that it needs to be hidden, but just added some coziness. I hung the curtain panel with this tension rod between the two cabinets.

3- Curtain instead of short Shower Curtain

Every shower curtain was way too short in Finn’s Bathroom, looked like crop jeans! So I attached a curtain rod to the ceiling and hung a wide curtain panel. Love that there are no rings and no flimsy shower rod that falls down! I actually did two curtain panels, that I already had a sewed them together. Thankfully the height worked great since the rod does come down a few inches. I will show you how I attached the shower liner.

For the curtain, I did this Cotton Curtain Panel with Back Tab Header, Blackout lining, 93″ H and a total of 140″ wide. Ordering a custom panel makes it easy to use one wide curtain panel as a shower curtain, because you can decide your width and height based on your shower.

4- Curtains to Soften a Door or add Privacy

We added curtains to our front door, to soften the iron, and can be closed for privacy if needed. Plus curtains around a door are just adorable, they look so good and unique. We had curtains custom made that are on all the windows and doors on our main floor in Pale Blue Aqua linen curtains (with Blackout205 lining, and Double French Pleat).

5- Curtain to Hide Washer and Dryer

We added the same curtains from our entry over our washer and dryer in the laundry nook to our bedroom. We used a simple black curtain rod, with rod brackets that attach to the wall, with rings. Biggest tip is to make sure your ledge is high enough so you can slide your washer and dryer out if needed. The pinch pleats and rings make it glide so easily and look really look nice.

I LOVE the coziness the curtain added to this laundry nook. We used the same curtains that we have throughout our home, you can get all the info HERE.

We have a nook for a washer and dryer in the hall of our second floor. We added a beam, that way I could hide a curtain rod and easily hang curtains to close off the space. We didn’t want a door because it could get in the way. And a sliding door was tricky. I really like the curtains here, softens the space and adds charm!
