I get a lot of questions on my X-back dining chairs. I have used them in both of my homes. I love how light they are and easy for my kids to move around and get into. They are very comfortable too for all of us. Here are pictures of them in my dining room and some sources on where you can get some of your own! This was in my Utah home on Cadbury you can see more photos HERE This is my Connecticut home you can see more images of my kitchen remodel HERE I pulled one up to my painted piano in my Connecticut home you can see more images of my living room HERE and how I have ... Banana Blueberry Muffins
We went blueberry picking with some friends. We went to Jones Farm in Connecticut, it was a darling farm. We took this little tractor ride to an area that had some blueberries left, it was one of the last days to pick. The girls loved it and did really well, an hour was about their max. The farmers told us several times to make sure to use the berries or eat them within a day or two. They don't use any pesticides so they go bad faster than the berries we buy at the store. Ella and I made muffins while Lola took a nap. I used my favorite Paleo Banana ... Read More
Connecticut Front Room Tour
Welcome to our Connecticut Home. We are from Utah and love the fact that we can call it a beach house. We painted our front door in Hale Navy from Benjamin Moore. We have pops of navy through out our entire home, I like the front door to set the tone for what to expect in the rest of the home. A little touch of nautical. This is the house BEOFRE we bought it. This is AFTER. We painted the blue paneled walls right when we moved in. We went with Cloud Cover from Benjamin Moore, I loved how it turned out. I just wanted something very neutral, not gray or yellow. We ... Read More
Connecticut Bathroom Remodel
We moved from Utah to Connecticut in January of 2015. The home is a Cape Cod style home that was built in the 1950's. Needless to say the bathrooms needed a major remodel. I love the charm of this built in armoire and it adds so much storage that we need. This is the before and after. I couldn't even handle the before for the few short weeks we had it. It is actually the main bathroom on the main level. It didn't to function a lot better than it was! The previous sink was a pedestal. The bathroom was small but could handle a larger vanity. I really wanted a piece of furniture to go ... Read More
DIY String Art
I have been admiring this string art projects for some time now. They looked overwhelming and a little hard to tackle. I needed something large for this wall and thought I would give the string art project a try, so glad I did! I got this frame for a great price, it used to have a mirror in it that broke. I painted the board that was already in it white. Then started my string art project. Trace whatever shape you want onto a piece of paper. I used wrapping paper so it was large enough. Then trace it with pencil onto the board. I found these aluminum tacks at a local ... Read More
Pillow Talk
Pillows can make the biggest difference to a room. If you are falling out of love with your sofa, rethink your pillows. My mother-in-law text me soon after seeing something I posted on Instagram saying she wanted to lighten up her family room. She has a lot of reds, browns and darker colors. I told her I would put a design board together for her with links on where to get them. But under no circumstances do not rush to the nearest Home Goods store and grab whatever you see. Have a plan and ideas of a look you want to achieve, this is what I sent her. She has a 10'x10' brown ... Read More
Connecticut Kitchen Remodel
Are you ready for picture overload? I am pretty excited about this new kitchen remodel! But first you need to see these before pictures of what it looked like right before we moved in January this year. You can also read about the remodel process HERE and where we have come from the past five weeks on this six week design challenge. It was pretty depressing being in that old kitchen. It felt dark, dated and dirty. I was already going through a big adjustment moving 2,000 miles away from family and friends that I love so much, so this kitchen didn't help ... Read More
Paleo Chicken Pot Pie
I used to make a pot pie with canned cream of chicken...(GASP!) and I used Marie Calendar pie crust. It was a BIG hit. I have made it for over 20 people or given out the recipe. I would make it for friends and neighbors who had just had babies and make it often for my family. I started to eat strict Paleo about three years ago. I needed to come up with another way to make pot pie since my family loved it. They do love this Paleo version just as much. I normally triple this and freeze the filling to have on hand to give to someone or ... Read More
