I am slightly obsessed with drawer knobs, pulls and hardware. Whenever I go to Anthropologie I normally walk directly to the bin of hardware. Hardware can change the look of a piece. A mainstream chest can go from something that you see everywhere to looking like a vintage collected piece. I looked around my house and noticed a trend, almost every piece I own has new hardware added to it. See what I mean... I found that little white cabinet in the bathroom storage section at Home Goods, I think it was maybe $70. I took off the white knob that matched the white wood and replaced it with ... Read More
Banquette Style Seating in a Small Space
If this banquette could talk. Oh the hours that have been spent here...my husband watching me cook me watching my husband cook dinner. When we have guests come and stay with us they could tell you the amount of time we spend in this little 10'x13' space talking late into the night and snacking. If it was all wood chairs I don't think we would spend as much time here. The settee makes for a great gathering space and also feels like banquette seating. I would do this 100 times over. When people ask me my favorite part of our home I always say the kitchen. It has not always been my favorite. When ... Read More
DIY Glass Terrarium
Any chance I get to go to my friend Annie's home I take it, or ask for it rather! Her home was the perfect backdrop for these glass terrariums that we wanted to make. I knew that she would also have great ideas and give me reassurance that our terrariums were up to par since she writes a blog too, Most Lovely Things and has an amazing sense of style. She welcomed us with a little greeting on her front door that she wrote with a pen like THIS. We headed right to her backyard to get working on our glass terrariums. My girls were very excited for this project. We have been ... Read More
DIY Bohemian Pillow
With summer in full swing I am always looking for DIY projects that are quick and have immediate results. I made a pillow that requires no sewing and is something even kids could do! It is a fun, easy DIY project that can be done in less than 20 minutes. This will also only cost you less than $12. All you need is a 2x3 rag rug, yarn, batting and a sewing needle and you can complete this project. I found this rug at my local Home Goods store for $9. I have always loved these bohemian looking rag rugs. They just don't really hold up too well in major traffic areas. I thought how great ... Read More
Kids Bunkbed Shared Room
When I saw Ashlea from This is Mamas Dance sons shared bunk bedroom my jaw dropped! I had to share it with all of you and also for my article in the free online magazine Everything Home. Ashlea and her family live next to a lake and has a coastal cottage feel. She knew she wanted the boys’ room to fit within that aesthetic while still being playful and functional. Ashlea grew up in a large family and loved sharing a room with her sisters. She wanted her boys who are 6 and 8 to have that same experience. Living at the lake gave her the idea of a “bunk room". She wanted it to feel like they were ... Read More

Summer Home Tour and Seasonal Decor Changes
I am so excited to be sharing our home for Simply Summer Home Tour hosted by Nina Hendrick along with Country Living and Birch Lane. This week 29 other bloggers have been inviting us into their homes to show us some fresh summer updates. I love seeing where people live and how they make their environment comfortable and inspiring to them. If you are new to my blog, welcome! We have been working on our 1950's 1100 square foot Cape for the past year and half. We moved from Utah to Connecticut and have really been enjoying our life on the East coast, being 800 meters from the beach helps! We ... Read More
Favorite Birth Announcement
With Instagram and Facebook it made me question if birth announcements are a thing of the past? Like writing letters. Everyone knows I had my baby and with the amount I post on my Nesting with Grace Instagram and my personal Instagram. Everyone gets it, Brooke had a baby. But there is something about getting an actual birth announcement in the mail. I feel it is a celebratory occasion, like a wedding. We need to have something printed and documented. I personally love to see as many pictures as possible on a birth announcement and Christmas card for that matter. It might be that we live so far ... Read More
How to pick the right size rug
One question I get asked often by clients is "do you really put a rug over carpet?" My answer is always a resounding yes! It ties the room together so your furniture isn't "floating" in the space. And then the next question is "what size should I do?" I have learned over the years that going bigger the majority of the time is better. A lot of times the price from a 5x8 to an 8x10 jumps up a lot and that is one of the biggest things that keeps people from getting the right size rug. I know I have been in that boat, thinking ok maybe the 5x8 will work when really it needs an 8x10. ... Read More
New Family Room Barn Track Door
Ever since the day we moved into this house in January of 2015 I have wanted a sliding barn track door. First of all the doors in the upstairs of our Connecticut Cape are hallow core doors, not like our nice 1950's solid wood doors on our main level. I was searching on Instagram and came across wood doors from White Shanty and fell in love with their style. They aren't your typical rustic "barn" door look. I found a classic style door and we are thrilled with the look in the space. As you can see we fit a lot into one little room. We actually had to have the sofa taken apart at an ...
