My husband, Kevin had the morning off so he was able to take the girls to their first day of school with me. It was so fun to have him there. I remember last year seeing all the Dad's and wishing he could be there as I cried dropping Lola off to her first day of Kindergarten. It was a good morning. The girls couldn't wait to get to school. And I was pretty thrilled to send them off then looked forward to hearing all about their day when they got home. After we passed them off to their teachers we went grocery shopping (pretty happy to have Kevin there, as I am sure he was stoked). We ... Read More
Fall Inspiration
My kids start school Thursday this week. Is it bad to say that I am kind of excited? I saw a picture on Facebook that went viral about the Mom cheering and doing leaps in front of her kids obligatory first day of school pictures. She was pumped. She is awesome, I get it. Don't get me wrong I love my girls so much. But it will be nice to have them learn and not feel so much pressure to make sure they read and get something out of the day! I can pass that responsibility onto someone else. I would not be good at home schooling. Anyways I digress.... Now that they have started school I have ... Read More
Favorite Healthy Granola
Hello! I wanted to pop over to share a little recipe that is on repeat at our home. My girls love to have granola with their yogurt, if I don't have it always freshly made, I have failed as a mom in their eyes. We like to make our own healthy version. It tastes so much better and it doesn't break down into tiny crumbs, we like it chunky! I really like to know what we put in it and can add more or less of something depending what is on hand that day. I have tried making granola with no added sugar, but it really didn't stick together. We have tried a lot of different recipes from ... Read More
Kids Space on a Budget with Zevjoy
I follow Annie from Zevjoy on Instagram and I am so inspired by all her DIY projects and her gorgeous photography. She is known for her simple, natural and easy way of designing and she does it all on a budget. I asked Annie to share her recent update she just did to her son's bedroom for my Kids Space Series on my blog. You are going to love her ideas... I asked Annie where the main inspiration came from for her son's bedroom. Sometimes it can come from a piece of art, a pillow and for Annie it started with the stripe bedding from Beddy’s. Annie had picked out the easy to make bedding ... Read More
Friday Favorites and No Bake Cookies
I thought it would be fun to share our favorites from each week. I normally cook something new that I want to share or maybe it is a recipe we have on repeat. I also see a lot when I am shopping online for clients or have companies reach out to me with great products that I think you would be interested in. So here is what has caught our eye this past week and some of our favorite things- This was Lola's favorite part of the week SPRINKLES! I wish that sprinkles or really anything made me as excited as sprinkles make Lola. We made some no-bake cookies and I put them in muffin tins and let ... Read More
Beach House Tour and Retro Kitchen
We were fortunate enough to have made some really great friends right when we moved to Connecticut in 2015. I met my friend Sarah at the Crossfit I go to, one of the best places to make new friends when moving to a new area along with church. Our kids are both the same age and we had a lot in common. They invited us to this beach house that they stay at every summer for a week in East Haven, Connecticut. It is about a 45 minute drive my my home. Last year when I went I was pleasantly surprised at how charming it was! I knew this year I would make sure to take the big camera to take some ... Read More
Baby Boy Nursery Features
We have really been enjoying our baby boys nursery. It was so much fun to design it for him. I can remember how I felt preparing it for him, I couldn't wait to rock him to sleep or to play with him in his room. I just knew he would love sleeping in it and gazing up at the wallpaper on the ceiling. Now that he is here, one of us says daily how lucky we are to have him in our family. He is such a joy. I had to document where his room has been featured so Finn can see it one day. It could be one of those fascinating facts that he shares when he meets new people;) hehe. It was featured on ... Dark Bedroom Walls
I was thinking the other day if we move from this house if I would paint our bedroom walls dark again? I think that I would! I like feeling like a bear in a cave in our 10'x13' bedroom. I am drawn to bedrooms with dark walls. Especially with light bedding for a nice contrast and to keep it from feeling dreary. I rounded up my favorite dark painted bedrooms for some of my favorite bloggers for some inspiration! We painted our bedroom in a flat finish from Benjamin Moore called Gray. Yes it is just called Gray, easy to remember! My friend Melanie from Sweet Savannah painted her ... Read More
Hanging Pendant Light DIY
I heard somewhere that an overhead light should only be turned on if you lost an earring! I totally agree. Overhead light can be so harsh, not very cozy or inviting. That is one thing I love about our 1950's Cape is that there is hardly any overhead lighting, forcing everyone to switch on a lamp for light. I fell in love with THESE pendant lights and did not have a spot in the traditional sense of where a pendant light should go. Most pendant lights come without a plug so you have to have them hardwired and that can be very expensive if you don't already have existing power to ... Read More
