Lamp Love- Keep the Glow Going with Lamps and Sconces

After the Christmas decor comes down, I mostly miss the glow of the Christmas lights. I actually don’t get sick of any of the Christmas decor, but alas it must come down to look forward to putting it up in 10 months. A way to overcome the blues, and darkness is with lamps! For the love of lamps is real, I am sharing all of my favorites, and my most recent lamp additions.

I love using lamps as decor for their warmth and ambiance, to enhance the decor and color in the space, provide task lighting, save space, and are energy-efficient! Also sharing all our ceiling lights at the end of this post! PS- if you have a lamp that doesn’t have a dimmer switch on it you need THIS!

If I had to choose only one item to go on a side table, console, entry table, nightstand, I will always pick a statement lamp!

Bedroom // Velvet Lamp // Light Bulb

They not only look great, but add such a cozy feeling that can’t be created any other way. (Scallop Lamp // Light Bulb // Drink Room)

This daisy lamp is my newest lovely lamp find! I might add a yellow stripe shade to it!

Love a lamp in an entry. Good way to create a welcoming environment. These velvet lamps soften the look of our entry.

Plug-in Sconces-

I’ve always loved our little bistro table in our dining room. But, when we hung this accordion sconce above the gallery wall (I put the cord behind art) it became the spot everyone gravitates to. Transports you to a cozy cafe, a “Cafecore” moment.

I find Ella doing her homework here often. And Kevin working. PS- I added this dimmer cord to it!

I recently used these plug-in wall sconces in this bedroom makeover. Adore them!

We hung these plug-in sconces in the guest room to act as lamps since there isn’t a lot of space for a traditional lamp.

I hid the cord with this wall cord hider and painted it to match the walls. We also used an outdoor ceramic table as a nightstand, I wanted to be able to sleep more people rather than have large nightstands.

In Liam’s Teen Boy Bedroom we added these gold plug-in sconces next to the art, it added so much! We decided lights over the bed rather than next to the bed would be better, with not a lot of space on either side of the bed.

Picture Light-

We needed extra light above the piano, I didn’t want to put a lamp on the piano. Instead we hung this blue picture light that plugs in (again added this dimmer cord). The cord is actually hanging right in the middle of the art, you can’t even see it, if you could I would hide it behind the art.

I love a picture light! They are ideal for showcasing artwork or photographs, making them the focal point of a room, just like this large picture light over the Flight Wall Art.

Hard Wired Sconces-

I really love a wall sconce. It’s an easy way to add a lot of personality to a wall. I just added these rattan sconces and it was immediately welcoming!

Bookcases and Shelves-

I recently added this shelf lamp in the kitchen! Just feels extra cozy, love how it can just slide into a small space and add such a big impact!

A bookcase is a favorite spot for a lamp. I added this darling little lamp with the scalloped shade, that is actually a dupe to my Serena & Lily lamps. I think it’s well made and looks almost identical! Perfect height to add to a shelf, in our office.

I get asked if they get hot in the bookcase, no, not with these lightbulbs and making sure you aren’t exceeding the recommended wattage.

Or if you don’t have a spot to plug in, add a cordless lamp. We just added this one in my sister’s cabinets.

Floor Lamp-

Behind our upstairs sectional I was able to put this double floor lamp. It’s on a smaller scale and I love that. Perfect to add enough light but not bulky to take up too much space. It’s a favorite lamp in the evening when it’s dark, making the space feel inviting.

The floor lamp in Lola’s room was a recent addition. She asked for one after her Christmas tree was taken down! I get it Lola, I love the glow of a lamp too. We added a bow to it for a playful, whimsical touch.

Magic Light Trick-

There is another option for a sconce on a wall with no plug or hard wiring required! Especially great for rentals, or a wall that you can’t hard-wire a light (like a brick wall) or no plug nearby.

We do my Magic Light Trick often! No electrician required! I came up with this idea over 5 years ago! I still use this trick, the batteries are easy to switch and the remote is nice to use to turn off and on, but also nice you can just reach up and turn off by pressing. Since then, these lights have now become available.

Love a sconce over a bed to give off the right amount of light for reading and a soft glow to the room.

Cordless Lamps-

Trust me on this one. Get a small cordless table lamp. There is something about a small light on the kitchen table at dinner time that gets everyone to linger a little longer, savor the dinner and company.

Like dining at your favorite restaurant every night, with your favorite people.

Or easy extra light when working on a project.

Get an extra small table lamp for all the little places that could use a little extra light, you will love it when it gets dark and the cozy vibes in small spaces around the house.

There really is no need for an overhead light with all the light options! But quite often we do need to turn on the big light, and when we do, we love the glow and style of these…
